Turner's value isn't high enough to get #4 pick right now. Other than here and there he hasn't really shown he can be a key player of a team so Cavs would almost be taking a chance at him. And if im in there shoes i rather take a chance with the 4th pick than Turner.

Never said that Henson should be the #5 pick, but he's a big defensive presence in the paint. Somewhere in the 8-12 range is where he should go. I'd rather trade up a few picks and get him than trade up to 5 and pick Drummond. If Drummond busts that will set the franchise back significantly. Plus there's no guarantee he's even there at 5.

And there is no way that Memphis does that trade.

the people advocating henson in the top 10 or even top 12 are clearly UNC homers

In this draft Andre Drummond, Beal , Lamb , Barnes and Henson is skillsets that we don't have currently that need to be targeted.

We need a big like Drummond in the worst way. We definitely have to make up for not taking a position of need in Cousins, Monroe, Favors... Brand would of been a excellent mentor.

How about this....anyone do this deal?

If Lou doesn't opt-out (or if he agrees to a S/T deal), would you send him and Thad to New Orleans for Okafor?

New Orleans has 4 decent bigs with Davis now, so they could look to move the oldest one with the bloated contract. They get back two young players to continue the re-build there.

I think the C we should be trying to acquire is Gortat from Phoenix. I think he would fit like a glove with this team and is attainable, especially if Nash leaves. We may have to bite the bullet and take one of Dudley,Childress, or Frye, but it would be well worth it. Something along the lines of:

Gortat,#13,one of Childress, Dudley, Frye

For

Turner,Young, #45, #54

What do you guys think.

Why is Gortat tied to Nash? He's still a young C.

I really can't see Phoenix being interested in that. The definitely wouldn't include Dudley. Nice role player on a decent contract. The picks we offer have basically zero trade value.

So the deal is basically Gortat, #13 and either Fyre/Childree for Turner and Thad. I'd say Phoenix would want no part of that.

I would be trying to sell them on Turner and his potential as well as Young. Gortat isn't old, but at 28 and with Nash leaving were exactly are they with him. I am of the thinking they may want to jump-start the rebuilding process with a 23 and 24 year old, while dumping a bad contract (primarily Childress). Once Nash leaves he is really their only tradeable asset, I would be hoping this package would entice them considering the direction their team is going. The owner is one of the cheapest in the NBA and I would imagine he would hate having to pay for a player not on his team via the amnesty provision.

Saw this from a chat with Luke Adams

Comment From Moses
Iguodala for David Lee & the 7th pick. Who says no?

Luke Adams: I actually don't think this is a ridiculous idea for either team, but I can see how both clubs could talk themselves out of it -- for Philadelphia, Lee's contract would be unappealing, and Lee doesn't give you much of a scoring upgrade over Iguodala. For Golden State, they're giving up one starter and the chance to draft another for a single player. If the two sides can eventually work something out though, I bet it wouldn't be too far off from this.

and this...

Comment From Robert
What do you see Golden State doing with their pick?

Luke Adams: From the Warriors' perspective, trading it for a veteran SF makes sense. I'm just not sure they have the additional assets to make that work. I mean, I think the Sixers would need something more than just the #7 pick to move Iguodala, and I'm not sure that "something more" is, say, Dorell Wright.

Iguodala for David Lee and #7....where do I sign? I don't love Lee or his contract, but I think that's much better than #7, Wright and a bad contract. Lee won't give us any D so you would need to make sure your C is a stud there, but Lee does board.

I would be looking at 2 deals.

1 is to deal Turner to New Orleans for Ariza and #10. Ariza is only 26 years old, yet has played 8 years in the NBA. His numbers are decent and he plays D, can shoot an open 3pt shot and make it usually. He's the perfect replacement to Iggy, and he makes half the money, is younger and taller.

For New Orleans, you are rebuilding anyways. You can get a guy who is going into his 3rd year, gaining confidence, and is ready to take over a team. Pairing Turner with Davis could be a great young start to a team. Think of how dominant they would be with rebounding.

Then, Philly has 10 and 15. Is that enough to move up for Drummond? Or maybe a Rivers/Zeller combo.

Jrue/2nd round pick
Rivers/Meeks
Ariza/ S. Young
Allen/ Thad
Zeller/Vucevic

And that still leaves Iggy to be traded and Brand's amnesty money on the table to work with, so theoretically you bring in a C from an Iggy trade and sign key free agents with Brand's money.

Here's the 2nd deal, not as favorable.

Iggy, Turner, Vucevic for Ariza, Kaman's expiring deal, Gordon (re-signed) and 10th pick.

I don't know how all this works, but that's what I came up with.

Iggy gets swapped for expiring money and Gordon. Turner and Vuc go for Ariza and the pick. 10th and 15th get swapped for a top pick to select Drummond. Money from Brand's amnesty and Kaman's expiring deal goes to Allen, Gordon, Drummond, and free agent backups. Complete rebuild around Jrue/Drummond/Gordon.

Jrue/2nd round pick or Free agent
Gordon/Meeks
Ariza/S. Young
Allen/Thad
Drummond/2nd round pick or Free agent

2nd deal isn't possible because Kaman is a FA. I'm not a fan of that 1st trade (and I'm not opposed to moving Turner).

Ok so what about pulling off that first deal, then turning 10 and 15 into a top 5 to get Drummond, and trading Iggy for a bona-fide scoring SG?

Jrue/ 2nd round pick
SG/ Meeks
Ariza/ S. Young
Allen/ Thad/ Brand
Drummond/ Vucevic

When Brand expires you look for a PF, if Allen isn't already a good enough starter next to Drummond.

Why would someone trade a top 5 pick for 10/15!

Offer Magic can't resist for D12..

Gsw: Iguodala
Philly: D12
Orl: Drummond + Jefferson + Jrue

Curry-thompson-iggy-lee-bogut = five guys who compliments each other

Jrue-Reddick?-Hedo?-Glen Davis?-Drummond = two promising building blocks

Deron-ET-FA-Terrence Jones-D12 = no need for explanation

Damn!

76ers trade Iggy and 15 for Rashard Lewis and 3rd pick.
Or
Iggy and Thad for 3rd pick and Rashard Lewis.

Sixers get a Big athletic high potential young big man to pair with the young back court of Jrue and Turner. Rashard could be a good shooter at the 3 as well. Brand agrees to smaller contract to play with youth.

Jrue/ Hinrich
Turner/ Meeks
Rashard/ 15
Brand/ Allen
Drummond/ VUcevic / vet

Now thats a team right there! Good mix of vets and youngins.

Wizards get a allstar smallfoward and a potential sixth man of year candidate. Wizard add veteran pieces who provide character and hardworking. Great additions to surround John Wall.

Because they are looking for depth and they don't think there is a huge difference between the potential of the player at 5 vs 2 players at 10 and 15. Because they have 2 spots to fill in a lineup vs 1, and that would be an easy way to do it. Because they really, really like a guy who will be drafted in the 10-15 range, but don't want to reach for him at 5 and would rather grab an extra pick in the process. Because they really, really like 2 guys in the 10-15 range, more than they like anyone in the top 5.

there are a number of reasons why a team would do that trade. they might not like the bust potential of a guy like Turner, Kwame Brown, etc. over the "safe picks" they could get at 10-15. It's the GM's job to go and FIND that team picking in the 4-6 range who might be thinking along those lines and then pull the trigger on the deal. Include a future 2nd or something if it spices up the deal.

It's called being a good GM and making things happen. I don't expect it in Philly, but it would be nice to see something outside the norm.

David Lee and #7 would be pretty decent return for Iguodala, but our interior defense would still have to be addressed... especially after losing our best perimeter defender.

David Lee is garbage and he's locked up until 2016. I would rather take Biedrins so he can rot on our bench for a year and then get amnestied than being stuck with David Lee's terrible game and contract.
