Generally speaking though, he is the athlete that we thought he was.

Yes. His agility seems to becoming back. Plus he is 7' 2". He'll never move like a 6' 8" guy but he is way more agile then almost every big. He still rounding into form physically.

That's awesome! Lol

Btw, it is quietly annoying to me that the article on ESPN today is calling Towns the future of the league.

Towns, Davis, Cousins and Embiid are the most talented big men in the league, and different people may rank them differently, but I personally think that Embiid will be number 1 by this time next year.

The national guys still haven't taken full notice of him. Yes he fouls, and turns the ball over more than the other guys, but he is going to figure that out, and then it will be no contest.

I think it's quite ok. Nobody is the future of the league after 8 games

I know that he hasn't proven it yet, but it is presumptuous to call Towns the future of the NBA when there is a young superstar in Anthony Davis that is currently better, and just as talented, and another prospect that has even more potential that just came into the league.

I think that any of those three guys could be the "future of the league". Still whatever. It's just one guy's opinion.

Cool, short video by ESPN. Can't wait until we have more footage of Embiid to get some legitimate montages.

A lot of promising bigs but none has the impact of Embiid on D.

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.

EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

Yup. I want to see him go against valanciunas. It'll be a very physical battle which I expect things will get heated.

Gameplan for tonight (since there's no game thread...)

- Glue stick Covington to Demar. He's the best midrange player/shooter in the game.
- Have Okafor try to push Jonas out of the paint, where he's a handful. Should be a good matchup between those two.
- Contest every Ross three pointer. Although this season he's driving more.
- Okafor, Stauskas and Henderson need to have good games for us to have a chance.
Truth is on the side of the oppressed.

Loving how Joel is developing so far... Wonder if he'll ever have the sprints he shows in the first two clips of this video... They way he ran in those first two possessions is what impressed me the most when i first learned about him... He was running like a massive small forward in those clips... Incredibly agile, nimble on his feet, massive strides and speed... He does seem to lumber a bit now... He has said he's not in his best shape... I do wonder if he needs to lose about 10 lbs, to get back to that... Or if his additional height will prevent him from running like that... Interestingly enough the third clips is what he runs like now... More upright, strides are not as long or as fluid...

Thoughts???

Also... The pop he has on these dunks are ridiculous... Haven't seen that once this season.. Again, I think it's the additional weight, and being away from the game for 2 years... Just wondering... How long does it take to get that athleticism back? Does it come back?

(P.S. It was after this workout that he found out he broke his foot, so not sure if he just doesn't want to got that hard anymore)

Also, looks like you need to click the youtube button to play it... Can't be played through our forums...

He weighs more in that workout video than he does today.

Assuming that he is still 276 today, as he was to start the year, he was supposedly 280 in that work out, despite being up to 2 inches shorter.

I definitely think that his legs aren't completely back yet though. The hunched over running motion just seems like a basic jog. When he needs to turn it on, he does.

It's the explosion in his legs that he says hasn't returned yet.

He was 280 in that workout and he had those springs? Makes me hopeful he might get it back then...

I think he'll regain some of this when he has a summer to lift weights, do plyometrics etc.

What's also interesting is that they barely had him taking midrange shots in that and now 2.5 years later he's shooting 50% from 3 lol. Pretty sure if he was shooting like that back then the Cavs would have had no choice but to take him #1 even with the foot.

28mpg is comparable (28-29mpg range) to the ff:
- Tristan Thompson
- Valanciunas
- Dwight Howard
- Drummond
