What's to like about Vanderbilt? Wouldn't it be better to just play Reed?

The Lakers got bamboozled by Ainge with Vanderbilt. He seems like a lengthier Luc Mbah a Moute.

Friends with Lowry and PG, ring chasing, we have a SG spot open... Not a bad one year layover before trying to find a nice final contract.

I would imagine he'd want to go somewhere as more than the 4th option so he can put up better numbers.

He put up almost 25 pts/5+ assists and still wasn't even looked at as a serious option by teams with cap space this year. I'm not sure why that would change with him being a year older next year. Even if there may be more teams (not sure on that) with cap room, there also may be a better FA class next summer.

Him turning down 2/$80m from the Bulls is gonna come back to bite him. If he ends up taking an MLE or something for 2024 that's going to be almost $30m in salary he lost for 2024.

He should hustle back to CHI and see if he can get that offer back in the table.

However, the Bulls are preoccupied trying to dump LaVine. If I'm Charlotte, I say "here's Bertans fully guaranteed, you give me LaVine and your 27 top 4 protected 1st. And toss in that Portland pick you have while we're at it".

Sign Dinwiddie with the remaining $9M in cap
Trade Paul Reed + ‘26 1st for Grant Williams (add KJ Martin if necessary)
Vet mins- Jae Crowder and Bismack Biyombo

Oubre, Dinwiddie, Williams, Drummond, Gordon, McCain, Crowder…those 7 + our big 3 is a strong 10 to go into the season with Council, Bona, and Biyombo available for depth as the last 3 dressed.

I’m fine with putting the bow on this team with just sensible moves. Don’t need a big splash like DeRozan, just guys that are willing to play a role.

I’m fully prepared for my breakdown after Slo Mo signs somewhere else for the min.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

He can’t shoot. So might as well play Paul Reed with Embiid and locking down the opponent on defense.

We didn’t sign Kelly Oubre until it was september last year. So don’t hold your breathe for our next move.

A guy we could go after is Tyus Jones. Like Drummond, we tried to trade for him at the deadline.

Because you won't lock them down. The other team will be shooting tons of foul shots.

Reed is a 12th man energy type, nothing more.

Agreed on this one. It could easily be over a month before Morey finalizes the roster. After the initial flurry, teams seem to have gone on their 4th vacations early.

Report also said he’s trying to build his value for 2025 FA.

Then UTAH is his destination. Cap Space and he'll be free to "get his."

Wait, how is DeRozan and Butler going to play together? They'll occupy the same spots on the court! Both need the ball in their hands!

lol who is Reed locking down? His playing time by fouling out?

I’ll be shocked if Reed is still in the league in 2 years.

Great, another undersized guard as if we don't already have enough of those.

1. I irrationally loved Luc when he was here lol

2. Vando is/was/could be? an elite rebounder who can defend...basically Poor Mans Prime Ben but its been awhile since I last checked that and it could be from him being sneaky good in a recent NBA2k game playing tricks on me lol

If Suns sign Morris, Lowry to the Sixers seems like fait accompli.

But the Sixers have been rather quiet since the PG signing, wonder if Morey is working the phones trying to pull something else off at either PG, SG, PF.

Some info from Mike Scotto:

Philadelphia has agreed to terms with Paul George, Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond, and Eric Gordon, and extended Tyrese Maxey already in free agency, and has more moves to make.

Philadelphia is scouring the free agent market and potential trade options to land another forward, with Paul Reed expected to be waived or used in a trade, league sources told HoopsHype.

The 76ers have exploratory interest in trading for Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith, league sources told HoopsHype, but nothing is considered imminent there.

The team’s No. 41 overall pick, Adem Bona, is expected to land a standard NBA contract and earn a roster spot with the 76ers, league sources told HoopsHype.

The 76ers will also cast a wide net to fill out its bench and are interested in adding more shooting and guard depth.

Philadelphia has interest in Lester Quinones, league sources told HoopsHype. The 76ers were also linked to veteran Reggie Bullock, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Lastly, Kyle Lowry is still a possible candidate to return, but the Suns also have interest in his services.

The case for Vando over Reed is that he’s an excellent perimeter defender that can guard Brunson, the Jays, etc. He’s also a more well-rounded offensive player who you can trust with the ball a little more.

I think he cares about winning as well tho. I read somewhere that the trade of Caruso for Giddey was the last straw for him. Lakers have DLo they could swap for him so I’d assume 18 mil would be his floor but I don’t think he wants to be locked on for 3 yrs at that number knowing Chicago saw him as a 40 mil guy, if that number is even really true.
