Not mad at having Reggie Jackson on the roster at all…but how many small guards do we need? Having 6 guards that are 6’4 or under on the 15 man roster is definitely an interesting route to go.

If James Harden has PJ Tucker, Paul George has Reggie Jackson.

Reggie was a solid contributor last year when Murray was out. Great fantasy stream for points and assists.

Funny I was just thinking, ‘if only we could get shorter and older!’

Poor signing. Seems we’re going to be running a lot of 3-guard lineups this season. I’m worried.

Pretty sure Morey is just signing BPA at this point. Never thought anyone could make me beg for a Marcus Morris signing.

Unless this is a signing so you can add money to move later, i just don't like it.

Is not only that we have too many guards right now, he also is a ball hog who isn't even an average shoter anymore.

Wonder if PG has something to do with this.

Agree with everyone that the fit is weird but I don’t mind picking up a useful NBA player for the min at this late stage of FA.

Yep. Clearing going bpa. I’m pretty sure Nick Nurse endorses all of these moves, so he must be okay with the roster direction. I know a small fraction of what Nurse knows about basketball, but we currently lack defensive options to defend Giannis, Siakim, and a few others.

I’m fine with not having a traditional PF in our starting lineup, but I would like an established player with the size and mobility to at least give us an option against some bigger forwards. And I def don’t want Embiid chasing those guys around. He already gets worn down enough.

The Reggie Jackson seems like in part to be a Paul George favor which Morey seems to do for player(s)/coach every season.

I'm fine with the pick as there's nothing wrong with having a third point guard on the team when your backup is 38 years old.

However, I think they hit their quota for small guards. Rest of the moves should be for non-undersized 2s, 3s and/or 4s.

Pretty much fills the Cam Payne spot. Lowry is old as **** so he will probably miss nights too. Jackson has long ass arms so he can play some 2 and even 3 in a pinch so he also could be a Melton replacement as well.

But as stated...makes the McCain pick even weirder imo

The last signing pretty much has to be Marcus Morris now. I assume Daryl will go into the year with 14 as usual. They will be about 6M under the 2nd apron after their next vet min signing.

They could've added a couple million to KJ and still had enough wiggle room.

Exactly the type of bench guard we needed that was available imo. I prefer to have someone that can Dribble very well, can get their own shot, facilitate, shoots the 3 ok & leadership/experience. He's got everything you could really ask for in a minimum deal at that

From the view of having only minimum salaries to fill 3 roster spots, Jackson works for me. It doesn't impede you from still adding a mobile big at the minimum.

Did KJ sign on the dotted line already? Could still technically do it if not. Last I saw was it was agreed upon I thought

Damn had no idea the world was with me on that. Tomatoes and jalapeños and nothing else. Used to eat that all the time when it was $2.50 a six inch.

Onions and jalapenos for me but yes pretty addictive. Haven't went in years though. Not worth the price any more. Put this first cuz I'm really not sure where there's a place here for Reggie Jackson at this point.

McCain is irrelevant to this, RJ’s on a 1 year deal and rookies almost never ever become part of good rotations their first year, even the rare rookie who translates well isn’t ready to play a solid 20+ mpg role on a contender when it matters. I think the hope for McCain is that he can fill up a role in a year or two if things break right, or maybe show enough promise that he’s a valuable chip.

In 23 games as a starter, Reggie Jackson is averaging 15 points, 5 assists, and 49% shooting from the field, with 1.9 three-pointers per game in 28 minutes of play.

All we need to do is let Maxey play off the bench

I don't think signing Reggie had anything to do with their evaluation of McCain.

Some food for thought, our guards going into last year:
Maxey
Beverley
Melton
House
Korkmaz
Springer

Now we have:
Maxey
Lowry
Gordon
McCain
Jackson

Albeit older, it's a more experianced and competent group. Depending on how they plan on playing Oubre/Martin - they may bring another guard. We still have a need for another PF, which I anticipate Morey filling before the start of the year.

PG: Maxey, Lowry, McCain
SG: Oubre, Gordon, Jackson
SF: C Martin, Council
PF: George, K Martin, TBD
C: Embiid, Drummond, Bona
