His efficiency numbers are terrible, but he's a really good point of attack defender and passer. And he's got some weird big game moxie thing going on that is incalculable.

I think the draft community overrates him and I would want no parts of him with a 1st round pick. But I do now recognize that he may have some intangible winning DNA to him.

Elleby scored 34 tonight and torched Washington in their rivalry game.

I'm sure we won't be re-signing Josh Richardson unless we can salary dump Horford and/or Harris. So we will definitely need a POA defender, but it NEEDS to be a guy who can shoot from distance. Any guys like that available around our picks?

Sounds exactly like Tyrese Halliburton.

He's basically the PG version of Thybulle.

If you want someone with legitimate upside that can defend the point of attack and shoot, check out Jared Butler.

His Baylor Bears are the best team in the nation and he's likely to win player of the year.

Would love a chance at Halliburton but I see him mocked top 5 so not sure how we could get that high.

Butler is intriguing. Looks like his only real wart is lack of playmaking somewhat akin to Pat Beverley, which is ok since Ben is our primary playmaker.

Tankathon has him going 44th. So we could have 3 chances to get him. Would like him with one of our 2nd rounders.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kira Lewis' highlights versus Georgia. I wonder if the draft community was sent scrambling after the ordained Anthony Edwards pales in comparison to Lewis in a head-to-head. I'm getting serious R.J. Barrett vibes from Anthony Edwards. I wouldn't want him at all.

Maybe it's the dimensions, headband and hair talking, but Duquesne's Michael Hughes is giving me Ben Wallace vibes. Similar game, just maybe not the physique or intensity.

This guy seems like an undrafted free agent gem in the making. Excellent passer, excellent help defender, elite point of attack defender. There is no volume on his shooting so he's going to have to develop a jumper, but his free throw shooting is excellent so there's optimism that he can improve it.

@Negro, do you recall Dru Smith standing out when you guys played Mizzou?

Looking at the boxscore, it looks like Smith did a number on whoever he was guarding (I don't know which).

Hagans - 0 for 3
Maxey - 3 for 10

Watching these Dru Smith highlights got me contemplating using our pick at #21 on him. And he's a freaking 9.7 ppg player in college. What am I thinking?

Seems very intelligent, articulate and well-spoken, too. Sounds like a coach.

This is the hardest part about scouting. You can fall in love with personality and traits and overlook talent or vice versa. So few prospects strike the perfect balance of having everything.

You don't want to have a marginally-talented team loaded with great personalities and winning traits and lose 100-85 on a consistent basis.

and

You don't want to have a team loaded with high-end talent that doesn't play the right way consistently or have the humility to mold together as a unit. Those teams lose as well.

Dru Smith gonna be the next VanVleet

I'd def bet on him, not in the 1st, but early-mid 2nd, sure

Is Kemba Walker or Kyle Lowry a likely outcome for Devon Dotson?

I feel like this guy is going to be a franchise player for someone.

I want to do everything in my power to come away from the draft with Dru Smith and Skyler Mays. I think those two selections save our backcourt for years to come.

Ouch, Halliburton out for the year.

I guess it's the Rasir Bolton show now.

Probably for the best for him. They are terrible this year and he won't have to be attached to that narrative anymore.

I am so committed to drafting/signing Myles Powell this draft that I'm setting myself up for massive failure if he busts and I'll deserve it. His offensive game is just too elite. His stock is just way too volatile for me to hyping him this much. Guys like Terence Davis, Chandler Hutchison, and Dedric Lawson at least had length to lean on.

Either way, I'll enjoy watching him score 30 a game in the G-League if it comes to that.

He should have came out last year when his defense and passing were trending up.

Now he's going to get written off as a one dimensional chucker with big game moxie.

I won't be surprised if he lights it up on the G-League like you said and eventually ends up with Miami and given a chance.
