I wonder if every board on realgm is having the same D12 and DWill discussion.

Put it this way, with a Dwight extension, there is no player on this team i'd say "well I don't know if I'd give him up" in a deal. Hell there is no duo of players that I'd be hesitant to trade for Dwight if it brought along Deron as well.

In a star driven league, to have a top 3 PG paired with the best center, is extremely beneficial. The big man little man combo would be devastating. Only OKC and Miami would have a better duo, and the Dwight - Deron duo meshes better than OKC's. ANY team that pairs these two is going to be title contenders for the length of those contracts (5 years?).

In order to keep the dream alive...

Key #1 is we need NJ to NOT win the lottery tonight (meaning any pick in top 3 - otherwise they have no pick). I just don't see how they could get Dwight if they only have S/T candidate like Lopez/Humphries and then Brooks to offer Orlando. Only way they would be able to make a good enough offer is if most other teams back away from Dwight and NJ is the only option.

I'd be hard pressed to take on that kind of salary and give up pretty much the farm though.

Wouldn't be THAT worried about depth if we land Deron AND Dwight. Usually solid veterans and decent role-player free agents will follow.

If you build it, they will come.

yeah I know, just going through the thought process. Jesus, who the **** gave Hedo a players option? Ed Stefanski?

I would like to say I would do either one, but I would prefer to trade Jrue. I like that big backcourt of Turner and Deron...

plus i do like the intangibles with Turner FWIW....

but by all means i do either one no questions asked

they are in the process of closing the sale of the hornets and surprise the hornets win the lottery...who knows if it is rigged, but cmon man...is anyone surprised the hornets won it

The Nets not only didn't win the lottery tonight but they also lost their 1st round pick.

The Deron Williams era is over in Brooklyn before it started, let's bring him down 95.

Amnesty Brand, sign Deron Williams.

Then Iguodala, Young, and Holiday will get it done to get D12 and J-Rich back. It's a lot but it's probably a better package than anyone else can offer and we take back Richardson's contract. D12 signs a long-term deal because he is going to win with Williams. Then you're looking at

D. Williams, L. Williams (re-signs at a discount cus he loves Philly and wants to win)
Turner
J-Rich, #15 Pick
Allen
Howard,Vucevic

Fill the rest of the roster with vets that will come to play here. Maybe even Hawes comes back cheap. His style would be nice next to Howard.

If the lottery was rigged, the Nets would have won it. NBA has a lot of reasons to want to see them get trade leverage.

Have the Sixers every gotten any indication that either player would be open to coming here? While I agree with you 100% that the sixers are in a similar situation to the Celtics before the big 3 and that they should trade some of their young assets to acquire legit superstars, I just don't think it is going to happen.

I agree, it is highly unlikely. However, if the two of them intend on playing together, they need to find a team with the right combination of cap space and trade assets. That is what put us remotely in the conversation.

If the Sixers were able to convince Deron to come here, Dwight may become very interested in joining him and turn off other suitors. That probably goes for whatever team Deron signs with.

Nevertheless, signing Deron is the key. An article today had us as a top 5 team to sign him. Dallas and Jersey as the frontrunners. And I believe Philly, Portland, and Utah were the others.

Looking at that field. Without Dwight going to Jersey, I think Philly is more attractive. I don't think he has interest in Utah. Dallas has an aging star. I think he could be very interest in Portland. They have Aldrige, Matthews, cap room, and I believe the Nets #6 pick.

I also could see Indiana make a play, but I don't know if they could go for both him and Hibbert. Probably not.

Also, this does not address sign-and-trade offers that Jersey could facilitate.

Don't forget Deron is from Texas and has talked about wanting to play back in his home state in the past. I think Dallas is the frontrunner. I think Dwight wants to play in BK more than Deron does. He probably will compromise and re-up with the Nets just for Dwight tho.

It would be tough. I think Orlando would want to dump Turk. Dwight and Turk make about 30.5 million. If the CBA rules are the same then we would have to send them 25%, which would be about 23 million.

If Lou didn't opt out, Thad, Lou, Evan, Jrue, and Vuc make about 23.8 million. However, I am not sure of the accuracy of Hoopshype's salary data.

In Dallas, he could play two years with Dirk, then Dallas has cap room to add pieces.

If he agrees with Jersey, Dwight could sign there after this season if a trade didn't work out.

It should be interesting, but I hope the Brooklyn thing doesn't work out. Would rather keep that combo out of our division.

The only thing i don't like about this Deron/Iggy/Howard trio, is the fact that we need to wait till after the draft and put all our eggs into this very tiny basket and hope it pans out.

I think we need to make a big move on draft day for a piece that fits going forward, then try to shop that new addition in the Dwight deal (if necessary)... so that if it falls through, we are not stuck with the same core going forward.

^ I hope so.

With D12 signing the one year extension, it gives the Magic the leverage in trading him. Now, D12 can't just say where he wants to be traded. It's not that simple anymore.

I don't know. But IMO things are going our way in the D12 sweepstakes.

2012 lockout introduces the amnesty.
76ers gets media attention with almost making it to the ECF.
D12 signing the one year extension that gives the Magic FO the leverage.
Nets not getting a top 3 pick that consequently giving their 1st rounder to the Blazers.

Now, we are the biggest market team that is committed to winning and has the MOST asset that has to offer for Magic. And we can also sign Deron after amnestying EB42.

Nets got Brook lopez and who? Dallas got no assets.

Right now, I think it's between LA and Philly.

If he's sincere that he's looking to win. He would consider Philly.
