I might be in the minority, but the more & more I think about this team's potential the more I honestly think we could actually be an 8 seed next year. Last year's record/team means nothing compared to this year. We're adding generational talent in Simmons - Embiid, ayoung, but experienced "pro" in Saric, and veterans in Bayless - Henderson - Rodriguez. I guess the reason it is tough to actually predict that is because you never truly know how good rookies will be. Am I the only one who thinks playoffs is a possibility?

As currently constructed, no. Duplication of talent at the 4 & 5 and that talent is still young and mistake prone.

We are still pretty much looking at starting rookies at 4 & 5 and reserve caliber players at 1,2&3.

If we move 1 or 2 of the centers for some good perimeter players then we may be a chance but really, how likely is it that BC actually is competent enough to get it done.

I think if we get two top 6 draft pick in 2017 we will be on the playoff race in the nest season (2017)

Too many rookies. If this was a veteran team used to playing with each other and you just added Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, then I think they would explode. But everybody will have to learn to play together, because likely 6 of the top 8 in the rotation, will be new to the team. That's the biggest turnover I may have ever seen.

Agreed.

Teams this young, no matter how talented, don't usually win a lot of games. The beauty of Hinkie's moves are that we don't have to be horrible to get great picks next year, and we already have two foundational players, that can eventually turn us into contenders.

So I don't see any problem with GOING for the 8th spot, but I don't think we have much of a chance of reaching it this year. Of course, if you had a crystal ball today that said that our record was 41-41 next year, I would say that the only way that we got there was that Embiid had a Duncan type of rookie year, and Simmons had a Lebron type of rookie year. Not impossible, but it would have to be historic circumstances like that for us to be a mediocre team.

Then again the 89-90 Spurs improved from 21 to 56 wins by adding Rookies David Robinson and Sean Elliot, along with veterans Terry Cummings and Mo Cheeks. But David Robinson and Sean Elliot played 4 years of college, and Cummings + Cheeks were better than any vets we added this year and Larry Brown was a better coach, but that was about as close to this year's 76ers as any, as far as adding so many rookies and expecting a big jump.

Yeah, it COULD happen, but it would require Embiid to be as good as The Admiral. I certainly feel that he is that level of prospect, but he is behind Robinson developmentally, which makes the likelihood of him having that kind of year lower.

Plus he is going to have medical restrictions on him this year that Robinson didn't have to deal with.

Is it shameful for me to say I'd rather have the 3rd and 4th pick than winning 35 games? Player development of Simmons, Embiid, Noel, Okafor and Saric should be priority number one, not winning games. Read some vague forum posts that Harry Giles is still not fully fit and might have lost a step, would be a shame. Really hope that Giles, Jackson and Tatum do not underachieve this year so that one or two of Fultz, Ntilikina and Smith is/are available.

Gotta think the Sixers will try everything to move up for 1 of Fultz, Ball, Smith.

There is a whole college basketball season to play in between, but I think that this will be a draft where you just really want to be in the top 5. This past year it was a 2 man draft, and this upcoming season is at least a 5 man draft.

Whereas last year I would have preferred 1, or 2 alone to 3, and 4, next year I would prefer 3, and 4 over 1, or 2 alone. If we can get 2 of Smith, Fultz, Jackson, Giles, or Tatum then it would be incredible. Currently, I like Jackson best, but I don't think he is clearly the best prospect. Any of those 5 could conceivably be the number 1 pick by next June.

76ers need a big time lead guard. This draft to me have two uber talented elite caliber talents that compliment our core talent and needs. Fultz is a perfect compliment for Simmons game because of his versatility . Very Brandon esque. However, I'm infatuated with Dennis Smith Jr potential has a perenial allstar top 5 point guard for years to come. He is a absolute iso-killer who relentlessly attacks... He has that fire and passion that has been missing since Allen Iverson. He may not be as versatile with his size-wings span and off ball ability like Fultz but he is a flat out killer.

We need to also strike out big with a star caliber prospect at the smallfoward position Jackson, Porter and Tatum are the guys for the future.

I mean I would be happy with 1 stud on top of the two we already have, 2 might be a little greedy.

Perhaps, but if we get two top 5 picks we will get two studs, and I'm sure we won't complain.

I think with all the assets that we acquired from Hinkie we should be setup to have a "big 4 or 5". I think we need more stars. I see neither Embiid or Simmons catring thebload as our teams go to scorer. I see Embiid as the teams anchor and Simmons/Saric as are Scottie Pippen - Lamar Odom type pointforward. We need deadly scorers at the 1 and 3 position. I think we will be cool with a 3 and D guy like Luwawu and a shooter like Kormaz longterm and Henderson shorterm at the 2 spot.

The Nets keep getting called the worst in the league but the Lakers are going to give them a real run. People who are counting on that pick may be very disappointed by the end of the season.

Lakers having the worst record and then the Sixers and Kings jumping them from 4 and 5 along with another team might cause Xfinity Live to explode.

Any of Jackson, Smith of Fultz would be excellent. I prefer Fultz, but it would be nice to have someone with Jackson's killer-attitude. That guy wants to guard the best player on the court at all times and takes defense personally. Just ask Tatum after the McDonald's game.
