As you listen to Van Hagar, I'd say:
1. Lonzo Ball
2. Dennis Smith Jr.
3. Markelle Fultz
Fultz is certainly ready to play minutes. I'm not sure he's ready to help the 76ers win. He'll have to be very good offensively to do so, given poor defensive habits, and Fultz's projected true shooting percentage is actually the worst of any top-10 pick. Particularly in transition, I expect Ball to have a more immediate impact.
Smith's numbers at North Carolina State were similar to Fultz's at Washington, and I think he's probably in a slightly better position to succeed right away playing in the Dallas Mavericks' spread pick-and-roll offense. Depending on what Dallas does in free agency, Smith is a Rookie of the Year contender.
I'd say Ball's performance depends on how good are the guys he plays with. He's not that good when there's strong defensive pressure at him (kentucky game) while excels when opponents D is helpless in picking their poison.
I agree Ball could struggle being the main playmaker with NBA size defenders. However, Fultz was very good at being the main playmaker, he made his team so much better when he was on the floor. His teammates struggled to finish his assists. Anyway, with better teammates like Embiid, Fultz's Impact should be greater not worse. Again, people are still focusing on the sixers record expecting them to continue to lose not realizing that Fultz will be given the keys to a powerful young machine that has lacked a proper driver for awhile. His job is going to be easier not harder in that sense. He may struggle with NBA size defenders, but he has some good teammates that will help him greatly.
