He's 250 pounds as a 20 year old. When he's like 25, he'll be pushing 265 just from natural physical maturity.

He's a huge defensive liability and he might not ever shoot league average or better or with any volume.

It's hard to judge him based on just the raw numbers because the Orlando team is so big heavy. Expecting him to put up huge rebound totals when the team has Wagner, Carter, Boi, and Bamba was never going to happen.

I think their idea was to have a G/F/C and build all three into cornerstones. Once you lock down that triforce, you become a force to be reckoned with.

Sixers tried that when we traded up to get Fultz. Just didn't work out because neither he nor Simmons wanted to shoot.

They probably should have taken Mathurin because he was just as aggressive an attacker but with a far better shooting profile than Ivey. But at the time, they thought Saddiq Bey was going to be a keeper and thus they didn't think they needed another F. They wanted a playmaker there instead so they took Ivey.

Imagine if they had Cade, Keegan and Kessler.

Cade, on ball.
Keegan, off ball.
Kessler, defensive anchor and lob threat.

Cade
Bey
Keegan
Bogdanovic
Kessler

And you’re here.. hoping Ivey can be as good as a shooter as Keegan. Duren being as good as a defender as Kessler.

Yeah I just don’t see Banchero having to play the 5. It’s pretty fascinating to see the wide variety of comps and evals for him here tho. So far we’ve had comps to Tim Duncan, Boogie, Melo, Blake Griffin, Lamar Odom, Julius Randle, and Jahlil Okafor.

Giannis terrorized that clippers team. Clippers have the wings to stay up on him but no rim protection to deter him so they gave him space and he got in a groove.

Rim protection is important

I know there's no real reason to target him, but I wonder where Bones Hyland is going. Will be acquired for pennies on the dollar due to his public rift with the coaching staff.

Thybulle is perfect with Jokic and the Nuggets.

Wait, what is the allure of Coffey? I keep seeing him, but he doesn’t really do anything of note.

Mostly just a 2-way wing worth taking a swing at in a system with a top level PG. Same general argument for a Jalen McDaniels type trade.

I think we’re probably gonna have to place a bet on another youngish wing from some team’s bench or hold onto him and hope he turns a corner. I’d be ok with either approach.

Kyrie for Westbrook would be the funniest move in the history of trades. “Enjoy your final years, Kevin!”

Yeah i don't see how they move him.

Lakers, Suns and the Heat maybe can build a package but that mean the Nets should take Westbrook, Lowry or Ayton/CP3, which i guess they do not want to do

I think the Raptors make a lot of sense. Lets Kyrie become the main guy on the team with a good supporting cast. Could be something like:

Kyrie for OG + VanVleet
or
Kyrie for Siakam

Raptors have the supporting cast to make a run in the playoffs, they just don't have a star.

Those two trades would give another long switchable defender to the starting lineup and insulate Durant on defense.

I see a lot of people talking about Dallas. Doncic couldn't make it work with Porzingis and Brunson, why do people think he'll work out with the flakiest of flakey players?

Because he's an extremely wide, big-boned kid. He's was 250 pounds at age 19. Hard to imagine he's not going to physically mature into another 15ish pounds or so in the coming years.

He'll have to play the 5, because he'll be too heavy and slow to play anywhere else. It's already hard to hide him defensively and he's as athletic and light right now as he'll probably ever be in the NBA.

I compare his game strictly to Knick-era Randle.

Rebounding, playmaking, foul drawing strengths and defensive weaknesses are all very similar.

the nets are the gift that keeps on giving..

At least now they can build around a proper all-star, ben simmons.
