Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
Maxey is more of a sturdy beast with good lateral movement and good instincts/great effort on D, rather than a long armed octopus like Thybulle, though he has a good wingspan for his height. He can put a hurt on someone setting a screen, very solidly built and all scouting reports on him, save for Kobble's, indicate he will be a plus positional and team defender in time, but probably not massively multi-positional like Thysse or Ben, those two are next level.

Is there such a thing as a good defender that doesn't generate deflections? All the good ones generate deflections.

Reminds me a bit of Troy Hudson. We'll see how he handles himself tonight against a tough team.

If you can shoot 3, have a nice floater, gets to the rim and finish at the rim. You’re surefire 20ppg scorer just by running 1-5 or 1-4 PnR

All of the statistically defined great defenders generate tons of deflections. Being a body up, quick lateral physical guy is still good straight up D. A bit like a center that isn't a shot blocking rim protector, but takes up space, gobbles rebounds, defends bigs well fundamentally and takes charges. Good positional defender, just not an intimidating game changer at the rim.

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
He made the right plays considering that the guards trailed him and went over the pick. Good thing you have a counter against such drop coverages.
Much easier when it is Grant Williams than an actual rim protector though. Curious whether he has the patience to snake the pick and roll and pull up, because it seemed a bit rushed at times. Nitpicking, because he had a really encouraging debut.
It's clear that Rivers want him to initiate some offense when he's in. Probably good for his development to have this responsibility at times. Hopefully the Pacers guards will go under occasionally to see whether he has the confidence to let it fly.

He looked composed. How long has it been since we've had a shifty guard who's able to collapse defenses and rain floaters?

They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Anyway, many thanks to our old boy Muscala.

I've seen people say thanks Muscala. I don't get it. We got this pick for Fultz... and if you really want to get technical, we got it for Jeremi Grant.
1. Out OKC pick '20 to 76ers for Jeremi Grant
2. Out OKC pick '20 to Magic for Anzejs Pasecnik's rights
3. Out OKC pick '20 to 76ers for Markelle Fultz
So basically Elton Brand traded Markelle Fultz for Tyrese Maxey, after Colangelo traded Jeremi Grant for Pasecniks.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Muscala hit the winning shot beating the buzzer for OKC during its last game in the bubble.
That win put OKC out of the protection range and the pick conveyed to us.
Muscala’s go-ahead three-pointer Wednesday night with 5.2 seconds remaining lifted the Thunder to a 116-115 win over the Heat. The shot ensures that the Sixers will have a first-round pick because Oklahoma City will finish with a top-10 record.

Oh, OK. Thanks. I zoned out during a lot of the bubble play and missed that.

It's the joke behind this hilarious tweet from Morey:
