I like RoCo but I don’t think we really need another PF. His days as a true wing are over.

The point about opp 3pt% really stood out last night.
Teams were shooting 34.7% on their wide open 3 point attempts going into last (35.7% now after one game
You could maybe say some of that is giving the right guys those looks, but I'd say it's mostly luck.
On the other end of the spectrum, teams are shooting 44.9% on wide open 3s against the Mavs, which has a lot to do with them sitting at .500

The only caveat I'll add to the open three stat that might suggest defensive strategy is who is taking the open threes on the opposing team. If we're letting John Collins take an open three over Trae Young, then it makes sense that the percentage is down.
Not detracting from the luck aspect, but there can be some form of strategy behind it.

Numbers isnt looking nice and i saw harrell mad at Reed after an offensive possession
Harrell drops less and steps out more on defense if he plays with Reed

I really don't understand why you would want this, super puzzled.
Harrell cannot keep up with the speed of a wing, why would you want him guarding outside the paint.....more over why would you want him guarding at all?
The play you just posted shows that Harrell takes a switch while Melton doesn't, the guy gets blocked by Reed but he could easily shot an open Midrange

I think Tucker is definitely helping us win games. The raw numbers don't look like it and there are moments he looks like he should be playing in the 50+ rec league instead of the NBA so he gets a lot of grief by the Twitter types.

Im not saying always.. one scheme I’d recommend is to have Tucker play 5. This will max Tucker’s talent of being able to switch 1-5.
Where Biid and Melton can rotating to the paint for stocks, or Tobias can rotate to try to draw charge. Tucker also boxes our the opponent’s best rebounder (most times the 5) leaving Biid, Melton and Tobi easier to grab boards.
I saw we sort of did it to close our the Rox game where Tucker played 5 and Reed played 4

I think he limits number of penetrations and slows down slasher and clip their wings allowing Biid to have an easier time to block shots.

So... any one interested in giving Stanely Johnson our roster spot?

With how close they are to the apron I bet they don't use it until after the deadline (if at all)

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
We need to just stop giving our opponents extra possessions. Clean our TOs and crash the boards.
Offensively, Harden should play with pace like how Jimmy used to and how he played against tonight’s game against the Rockets.
We’re getting the shots we want in crunch time.. Embiid elbow, Harden stepback, Harden 3, Role players spot up. We just have to clean up our TOs.
Rotation wise, our bench has to be more confident in what they’re doing (Milton and Niang have both done a great job about this. Harrell, Reed and House Jr. are still lost) and we need to be more advanced with our rotations in ending games
If we continue to play close games and learn from our mistakes, we would be very hard to stop in crunch time.

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
I think the turnover problems will fix themselves just as guys stay on the court and build continuity with each other instead of coming in and out of the lineup, dealing with injuries. They just need to play together.
The rebounding issue is going nowhere, though, with the guys we play at PF.

True.
On defense, I find Tucker as a SG and Tobi as a SF.
I think Tucker playing C on defense would slide Biid to PF and Tobi to SF, that would strengthen both guys rebounding skill. That’s my solution for now if there wont be any major rotation change.
I think I saw Tucker playing some C with Reed at PF against the Rox. I think when Tucker switches to AD on defense, it was easier for Biid and Tobi to crash the boards against the Lakers.

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
When Tyrese gets back, I hope we continue to start Melton. We're 4th in DRTG and I don't want to see the trash defense we played at the beginning of the season.
Harden(32)/Maxey(16)
Melton(28)/Maxey(12)/Thybulle(8)
Tucker(24)/Niang(24)
Harris(32)/Reed(16)
Embiid(32)/Harrell(16)
Harden(32)/Maxey(16)
Melton(28)/Maxey(12)/Thybulle(8)
Tucker(24)/Niang(24)
Harris(32)/Reed(16)
Embiid(32)/Harrell(16)
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
Sixers are now at a 118.2 offensive rating with Harden and Embiid on the floor. Getting closer to last year's elite level
Bet too early on Sixers championship odds.
They’re at +2500 now.

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
The starting lineup with Melton replacing Maxey has a net rating of +16 vs a net rating of +5 with Maxey. The original starters are hurt by the slow start to the season tho so it’s hard to draw conclusion. But evidence is starting to build toward Melton starting.
I don’t think we’ve ever played a Maxey/Melton/Harden/Harris/Embiid lineup tho. We’ve gotta give the 3 guard lineup some run before playoff time.

Re: Quick stat snapshot of where the Sixers are after 3 games
So Curry got injured yesterday and the Raptors are basically a hospital right now.
Need to take advantage of this to go on to win at least the next 3 (the other one is the Pistons) and clean up the entire home stretch
