They are still about 3M away from ducking the tax if they sent KJ for nothing.

Hope someone else is attached to KJ going out! Goal this year should be to duck the tax and grab as many picks as possible while avoiding future salary commitments.

Great job on the Caleb Martin for Grimes trade. Grimes is a far superior 3PT shooter and Nurse may get him to buy in on defense. Worst case we let him walk this offseason and still have that 2025 draft 2nd rounder to use.

For example, if Toronto decides to make Scottie Barnes available, then MCcain would most likely become part of that trade package to acquire him. Or Lamelo Ball. In other words, I don't see MCcain untouchable the way I see Maxey as such.

I think the idea of McCain after the brief glimpse we got might be something that teams might value. He could be a very valuable potential chip in a George trade for an impact piece. I just don't believe in a Maxey-McCain backcourt as a long term play, as it would be a disaster defensively.

A Maxey - Grimes - McCain 3 guard rotation could work well assuming we can resign Grimes for a reasonable amount this offseason. I don't think he's going to break the bank.

They are now below the first apron, so they could take back more salary than they send out in a deal.

I don’t think that’s gonna happen… but mentioning it just in case.

KJ, Yabu, and the 28 LAC 1st for Ousmane Dieng and 25 PHI 1st. That works on Fanspo.

What's the deal with the first apron and buyout guys? Do you just need to be below before the signing or after?

My understanding is you have to be below the first apron to even be eligible to sign the big ticket (contracts above MLE) buyout guys. So before. And I’m not sure if you have to stay under upon signing them. I could be wrong on that though.
