Re: 2013-2014 College Basketball / '14 NBA Draft Thread
i dont understand why all the rumors in the media are about Cleveland/Sixers.
I fail to see how we are good trade partners.
Cleveland wants Embiid. He won't be there at 3
Philly (probably) wants Wiggins. He might be there at 3.
Wouldn't the Sixers be better off talking with Milwaukee? What incentive does Cleveland have to move down and lose out on Embiid?

Maybe that's why they leaked the "HIS BACK IS BROKEN IN 85 PLACES" stuff..to make him fall past the Bucks...that or they really want Parker?..or because it's the Cavs maybe they want Exum...
Personally, that has been my hang up from jump and not even for the same reason. Unless we are giving up 3 AND 10 AND Thad for the 1st pick...what do they really get out of it? I love Thad a lot but if we couldn't get a 1st for him at the deadline...why would he now allow us to get the 1st pick?
We are stuck at 3 guys unless we give up both picks

I think CLE will end up making the first pick in the draft on behalf of MIN as part of a Kevin Love deal to CLE. CLE needs a superstar to keep Kyrie happy and to make him accept a max deal. Likewise, CLE has to hope that Love wants the Kyrie pairing and that Love will sign a max deal too. CLE has plenty of other young players to package with the #1 pick to get a Love deal done.
So maybe we should take a minute to figure out who MIN would draft #1 if K Love is gone. Thoughts?

“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Interesting...Love to Cleveland does make some sense. Embiid to Mpls, he plays for 2.5 years before he's traded to the Lakers.
Sixers still get Wiggins, and move forward with the youth movement.

Agreed. Let's sit at our picks and let other teams "over-think" and reach on players, while we take BPA.

Read somewhere Kyle Anderson is coming in Monday to workout for the 76ers. Gets to workout with Andrew Wiggins.
It's interesting to see who teams schedule to workout at the same time. The Celtics had Smart, Stauskas and Lavine in the same workout the other day. That would have been interesting to watch.

I would've loved to see that workout

LaVine is so skinny that he disappeared at one point while standing next to Smart.

Clev is drafting Embiid. Then they wont have to keep Varajeo or Hawes Maybe they sign Hawes for 5-6m. Draft Embiid and then don't pick up the 9m option on side show bob.
Milwaukee is selecting Wiggins.
We are drafting Parker

seems like the most likely scenario. i'll continue to hold out hope that Milwaukee goes for Parker, but i'm not counting on it

I think Parker growing up not far from Milwaukee, gives hope that he may re-sign there. That is a major consideration for the Bucks. Wiggins for 4 or 5 years, or maybe Parker for 10. Parker, if the team is contending, would be most likely to commit to the bucks long-term.

Milwaukee already has the Greak Freak as their future SF.
Parker makes more sense to them, especially with defensive minded centers like Henson and Sanders on the team.
If Cleveland don't select Wiggins (I expect them to take Embiid if he's cleared by the medical staff), I think he falls in our lap.

Guys never pass up the first big contract money. Whoever they draft will be there 7 years minimum if they want him to be.

yeah i'm not sure why people are acting like we have any clue whether Parker or Wiggins will stay in Milwaukee long term
that should be the last thing on the Bucks management's mind when making this pick.

Come draft day, Embiid wear definitely be wearing a Cavs hat.
Good thing we have Hinkie at the helm. I think its comical how fans of the Bucks and Cavs act as if its Wiggins or bust for us and not only should we be willing to part ways with the 10th pick for him, we should do it with a smile as if they're doing us a favor. Please, keep your top 2 picks, we'll just select one of the left over #1 draft pick candidates and then select another impact player with our 10th.
I think when its all said and done, whoever we draft will have the better career due to the incompetent manegment of the Bucks and Cavs. Our road to a top 3 pick was a lot different than the Cavs and the Bucks. The Bucks just sucked because they sucked, same with the Cavs. We tore things down purposely.
I could not agree more. Being over on the Bucks board - where they really think there is a chance that we would pay the 10th pick IN THIS DRAFT (who could be a guy like Randle, Gordon or Saric) to MOVE UP ONE SLOT.
That is some NONSENSICAL ish, if you ask me.
This is a MULTI-YEAR rebuilding job...which will require SEVERAL high-impact players to be acquired. Giving up the NUMBER TEN pick in this draft - just so we can take Wiggins instead of Parker or Exum (and of course, this assumes that Hinkie and his staff even think that Wiggins is a once-in-a-generation player - in which case, why would such a SAVVY front office like the Bucks even CONSIDER trading out of Wiggins? Still waiting for Bucks fans on their board to answer THAT one...)
When we look back on the morning of the 27th, if Hinkie's past is any guide, thee will be a TON of moves...with all kinds of potential scenarios...
Take Parker at 3 and perhaps trade him to UTA if ORL takes Smart at 4 and pick up 5 (Exum) and 23
Trade Thad and 10 to LAL for Vonleh/Gordon/Randle
Trade for Boozer and pick up 16 or 19 (which they could use or put with other assets to move that pick up)
And probably a bunch of other things that I haven't even thought of...
This is how Hinkie operates. This is what he has done consistently in the past. What HASN'T he done?
Panicked or strong-armed into giving up a TOP 10 pick to move up one slot.
