Simplify his role and let him know he needs to play aggressive since he only plays limited minutes. Same thing GSW did with McGee.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Well at least in this interview he admits he played like trash in the Summer League. Hopefully his confidence in himself means he can turn it around and work on what he needs to work on.

Passed him in the airport today...long and skinny in person. I hope he pans out for them over the next few years.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Low expectations are the key to happiness with Bolden. He's essentially replacing Holmes who didn't play.
He does a lot of little things well. He'll screen, crash the offensive boards, create the occasional fast break with a nice outlet pass, switch out and guard the perimeter, etc.
He'll also probably be terrible offensively and miss some assignments defensively. If he can develop a reliable 3pt shot and miracle his way into being at least a 65% free throw shooter then he could see some longevity in the NBA. As of today, he's got a long way to go.
All this being said, barring injuries I expect Bolden to be in a suit for the better part of his rookie campaign.

He's headed to the G League, welcome back Wilson Chandler (soon).

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
My first impressions of Bolden are that he's going to shoot pretty much every time he gets the ball. He seems pretty terrible and he's old for a prospect. Given that we can use Embiid, Amir, Muscala, and Dario at center, and possibly even Ben or Roco in some creative or emergency lineups, I wouldn't be surprised if we released Bolden at some point and used that roster spot to acquire more veteran shooting.
jonjames is a signature bet welcher.

That's really true of every end of the bench player that gets minutes at the end of games. Pretty much everyone is out there trying to shoot as soon as they touch the ball whenever they are playing the last 3 mins of a game. Not necessarily a great measurement for how they will go with 8 to 10 regular rotation minutes a game.
I was pretty big on Boldens athleticism when we drafted him but I expected him to show more in his extra year in Europe...and even regressed a bit. Definitely needs to spend some quality minutes in the G League before he gets any sort of decent chance this year.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Opposing players seem to be taken aback when they get switched onto him and he's body-mirroring them as a big. He's an impressive defensive talent. Just not a fan of him on the other end. Kind of seems like an offensive zero. Even in Summer League.

He needs get that shot down. It has decent form and his fluidity at that size is unique. If he can turn into an Ibaka, then he's extremely valuable.

Thanks Jams60
I like it better when Bolden is rum running more than trying to make it rain 3s. But I didn’t watch much of the 2nd half, so maybe they were wide open looks he just missed

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Bolden fits well with Embiid and Simmons. Most teams don't have 3 bigs to guard them.
Simmons gets a smaller player to guard him, which is beneficial.
Embiid gets a secondary rim protector that lets him cover his man out to the perimeter.
Bolden needs experience to help stop the silly fouls. Muscala fits too, but Bolden is more athletic.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Muscala is trash, if his 3 ball isnt falling, he doesnt help the team in other ways.
Bolden could go 0-5 from 3 just like Muscala, but at least he’ll get boards, and block shots..

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
It's an interesting discussion whether he should start ROS or not, I say nay but its not cut and dried. My issue is the spacing, he certainly offers a lot of other things, especially on D, compared to Chandler/Moose.

Re: Welcome Jonah Bolden
Jonah deserves some love here.
He is all over the floor. Energetic, getting deflections, rebounds, steals, hustles, cuts. Just love his impact on the floor. Ball is moving around him because his movement all the time allows it.
He should be a starter even after Wilson comes back.
