Not really? Maybe a little when people say it just because it's so cliche.

Just wondering. Every time an athlete is signed to a Philadelphia team, they're always asked about the novel sandwich which has meat and cheese on it. I could see it getting tiresome as a local.

Yeah, I dunno. It's just an immediate association rather than what the city is known for. Otherwise it would just be some meat and cheese sandwich no one gives a **** about.

Seems like it would be cringe when athletes do it, but people seem to eat it up whenever they do. Bryce Harper basically runs through this town with Allen Iverson jersey on while eating cheese steaks to the Rocky theme song and people **** love it.

Yeah, I don't see us making any additional signings until after we figure out Reed/Martin. Either players are still hoping to find more than a vet min offer and we're waiting that out or Morey is cooking up his last big move before scouring vet mins.

Looking at some of the remaining names, about half may end up signing for the minimum. Many of them need to see how their market plays out. Frankly, a lot of these guys are minimum guys at this point in their career.

DeMar DeRozan
Miles Bridges
Buddy Hield
Caleb Martin
Gary Trent Jr
Malik Beasley

Kyle Anderson
Isaac Okoro
Tyus Jones
Lonnie Walker IV
Markelle Fultz
Kyle Lowry
Spencer Dinwiddie
Luke Kennard
Saddiq Bey
Alec Burks
KJ Martin
Doug McDermott
Taurean Prince
Dario Saric
Gordan Hayward

Patrick Beverly
Cam Payne
Marcus Morris
Jae Crowder
Robert Covington
Reggie Bullock
Evan Fournier
Shake Milton
Danilo Gallinari
Joe Ingles
Cede Osman

Those are the ones I'd have the most interest in. I don't like Miles Bridges even a little bit; but I can't deny he'd probably put the Sixers on the same footing as the Celtics if we added him.

He shouldn’t cost much for he seems more like a rental to me.

I believe if we did that there is a penalty as far as being capped at the apron or something. Not sure how prohibitive it is and if it would be worth it. Good player, but not necessarily a premium acquisition, if there are significant penalties.

Seems like it is even perfect salary wise if we add Reed

Kyle Anderson off the board.

Could make Dario leaving the Warriors more likely.

He should have moved him on the previous deadline. But talking about that goes against the "Ainge is a genius" talk.

There is no reason for teams to give him a Bridges package unless he forces his way to another team like Bridges did.

Oh well, he would have been a good fit here. I know he doesn't shoot/score but he does everything else.

The best case PF via free agency isn’t very good at this point. However, the Sixers might go small with PG at the four, so they just need the best players they can get right now. They still have the trade route as well.

I thought Marcus Morris was pretty good last year. He is 34. Crowder and Covington are 33, but both look like they’ve lost athleticism. Taurean Green is an option but underwhelming. Gallinari is about 35, but might be an option. Saric shoots the 3 at 36% for his career. I doubt he can defend much. Not great options, but def some guys worth the min.

Looks like Kyle Anderson is coming as part of a S&T to the Warriors, so I assume that takes them off the board as suitor for DeRozan since they won't have that T.E. from the Klay deal?

Looking at what's left in FA, I think our 5th starter ought to come via trade. I could see some depth pieces still being signed, but looks like the starter-level talent has dried up.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

I think DFS is the answer. Then just sign for a cheap wing like Bullock or Dario.

Very likely to be DFS

DeRozan is an awful fit as a 4th option... But man, for like $9M? All day.

Doesn't seem feasible, but it's also more money than either LA team can give him, and there's potentially the Lowry connection.

Bodner and Neubeck seem to think Dario has next to no chance of coming. They said he's primarily a center right now and the Sixers have no room for centers and he doesn't fit what they're looking for in a player. For a center they want a rebounder/rim protector, and for a wing they want someone with defensive versatility. Dario provides neither.

Couldn’t we also stagger his minutes while Maxey and or Embiid is off the court?

He’s a bucket and could be a huge boost of scoring

Seems like DFS is a really good fit right now. Maybe worth unloading the 2026 OKC 1st and adding 2026 pick swap (which wont matter).

DFS played some C for the Nets last season

I know he’s small but I kind of like Maxey at the 2 paired with a big defender 6-5 or so PG. I know they don’t grow on trees I get it.

The alternative is asking whether they look forward to walking through the giant heart at the Franklin Institute.

DFS has felt like a likely option in a Reed trade, dating back to draft night when Morey was vaguely talking about a deal that was on the table for their pick that they'd think about revisiting.

He'd be a good addition to complete the lineup.

He's also the chalk addition though. I'm hoping for something more inventive out of Morey. I guess the inventive part comes in where he somehow manages to do it while staying under the apron (according to Bodner, it would require signing a handful of undrafted free agents with lower minimums, which I guess would probably actually excite people)

Technically Reed is the reason we have cap space. We could but it would hard cap us. Then when Brooklyn buys outs Ben Simmons after the deadline we won’t be able to sign him because he made more the 12.8 mil lol

I love the cheesesteak; but give me a Philly soft-pretzel!
