I'm not making assumptions about a person's character, however, I do know that Simmons is a talented basketball player

Every bit of information that has been reported about Simmons since the lottery has indicated that he wants to be selected first overall by us.

Why wouldn't you make assumptions about Ben's character? This is a generational franchise decision. The prospect Will not work out for our team. It would be common courtesy for Ben to take a face to face meeting and tell PHI that the franchise is acceptable to him.

I'm not OK with being treated like a bitch.

You have to account for the "behind the curtain" aspect.

Whether or not a prospect attends the combine, interviews with, or works out for a team isn't even up to him. It's up to his management.

I wouldn't make assumptions about Ben's character because he hasn't been scheduled for a workout with the Sixers. Klutch Sports Group are the ones making that call.

Because I've never met Ben, there are those making decisions that have and will. What I do know is that everything having been reported since the lottery indicates that he wants to be selected by us.

This is a generational franchise decision. The prospect Will not work out for our team. It would be common courtesy for Ben to take a face to face meeting and tell PHI that the franchise is acceptable to him.

I cited the reports about Anthony Davis prior to the draft, you'd have passed on him if you were the Hornets/Bobcats, then.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/221588/Davis-To-Meet-With-Hornets-On-Tuesday-Wont-Workout
Anthony Davis will meet with executives and coaches of the Hornets on Tuesday, but won't workout for the team, according to sources.

Davis is such a clearcut No. 1 overall choice that the Hornets don't need to go through the process of working him out.

Also, funny, this about the Hornets winning the lottery -
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/221328/Davis-Family-Disappointed-Over-Lottery-Results
Anthony Davis’ family wanted him to land with Michael Jordan's Bobcats.

"A lot of disappointment inside my family," said Anthony. "My mom wanted me to go to to Charlotte. I have a lot of good friends in Charlotte. At the same time, it wasn't my call. A lot of guys are disappointed but they have to move on and make the best out of New Orleans."

Davis, who was raised in Chicago, grew up rooting for Jordan and the Bulls.

Imagine if Simmons said that in this situation? Lol...

I agree but KSG will be making the calls after we draft Ben. They want Ben in LA. It makes the most money for both of them. Besides, there are more pretty people in LA than in PHI.

Probably, the only decisions that Ben has been able to make for himself, is whether or not to attend classes. Christ, he doesn't have the intellectual curiosity to visit the city and the team that he may go to.

The reported reason why they preferred L.A. was to get Nike to match Adidas' shoe deal. Well that's a moot point now since he went ahead and signed the lesser deal with Nike, anyway.

All the reports that have come out in the last few weeks say that Ben Simmons and his camp are perfectly content with playing in Philadelphia and that he's looking forward to being the #1 pick.

Adidas and L.A. made sense on paper.

Nike and Philly is the reality that everyone in his camp came to embrace.

If he wanted to go to LA so badly (Who doesn't?) Wouldn't he have visited there? Wouldn't he have worked out with LA?

Okafor wanted to be a Laker last year. Did that stop us from taking him?

He's not working out for the Lakers either. This is a nothing burger.

Even if he WAS insulting us, it makes no difference. Are you really going to stick to your guns and personally hate the player that we are about to select, and will probably become our first superstar since Iverson?

Good insight from a guy who is familiar with Simmons. So far, everything sounds good he even state why LSU struggled, Simmons personality and concerns with his shooting.

Nobody believes that. The decision is made and has been made since we won the lottery. It's been easy all along. It's Simmons.

What would be the point of posturing when you're the team picking at #1?

Always be flexible and never certain. As Hinkie said.. "The best decisions are made with a broad set of options (data)."

Instagram link failing. It is amazing for me to see the minor height difference between Simmons and KAT, whilst keeping in mind the fluidity of both prospects.

Not saying Simmons is the better prospect at all, but his quickness and fluidity in his movement is really unique for his length.

At the very least we're screwing with the Lakers' heads which is fun.

Actually I think the bigger thing is that people know that whoever we pick will impact the other moves we make, and waiting to commit keeps teams in the dark there.

The less commited we are, so are they. And we tend to not overvalue things when we are less committed/focused (nudge in behavioral economics). Easier for us to trade with them, while also allows us to make better decisions.

Agree...one is a skilled big man, the other a very tall point guard. Simmons skill set is being understood...I can't recall a prospect as unique as him since...Embiid?? How many true 7' players have Embiid's skill set?? It will be interesting.

To just talk to the media but not give any info. He's not going to come out and say they are taking Simmons.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
