Does Doncic's heightened basketball IQ give him a chance at being a good team defender?

Interesting huge wing player to follow moving forward. He and Hands should be a problem for the Pac-12. Looks somewhat comfortable with the ball in his hands, but moves well without it. Looks extremely long.

Thoughts on Malik Pope?

I think he looks mobile and athletic and comfortable with the ball in his hands in transition. Almost similar to Kuzma. Good shooting skill. Higher defensive upside than Kuzma, too (7'2" wingspan).

Could be a 2nd round steal.

I tried to get into him last year and the year before. But after awhile, I was just left wondering why you dont see him do stuff like that consistently. Stopped going out of my way to find him. Gonna give him some more looks, of course.

2:21-2:25 expresses your point about his athleticism. I think Doncic's aggressiveness masks some of his flaws, while Furkan Korkmaz' smoothness hides some of his attributes. I like the kid. But I don't see him being clearly ahead of the field, nor do I see him as a better fit with Simmons than Fultz or Furkan.

This is somewhat blasphemous and borne out of frustration, but also because I love the way the kid plays. Furkan Korkmaz could be to Markelle Fultz as Kyle Kuzma is to Lonzo Ball.

....

Speaking of blasphemy, anybody interested in selling high on TJ Maxx and drafting Trevon Duval? I mean, what if we're sitting at #10 or something and Duval is there beside other dudes who fit better but are less talented?

when i watch doncic, i see a guy that looks like he's using every ounce of energy just to try and get by his defender.

Sexton seems so legit. Franchise lead G talent.

You mean McConnell? He has no trade value other than a second rounder maybe. To us he has a lot of value.

Sexton looks like he's gonna have zero touch at the next level. Like his competitiveness but I don't see stardom there. Looks like he'll be a solid bull-dog type point guard.

I really like Terrence Davis from Ole Miss. He's a rugged, hard-nosed defensive G that can score. Not the most skilled shooter, but he can make shots.

This is the type of dude you can put on your 2nd unit and tell him to get buckets. As a bonus, he'll defensively overwhelm back-up Gs.

Today is the first day in like 4 years where I visit NBA mock draft sites in mid November and didn't see the Sixers in the top 14 of the mock.

It's nice.

The cross court passes with pinpoint accuracy are unbelievable for a 18 year old kid. I think the concerns about his athleticism are real, but he's leading Real Madrid at an age of 18, without Anthony Randolph and Sergio Llull, and still beating teams with ease in the Euroleague. Also he's the most efficient high volume shooter (think about that), those things are worth something.

Problem with Dario Saric is that he's not capable of defending on the perimeter, not enough length and athleticism to protect the rim, not good enough of a shooter to provide floor spacing and not the athlete to be an efficient cutter or roller. Therefore the only way you can optimize Saric is by giving him the ball and let him create, but he doesn't do that well enough to warrant that role.

Luka isn't the best perimeter defender, but he's a plus rebounder for his position (wing) and competes extremely hard, I've seen some progress regarding his technique avoiding screens as well. You don't have to be an elite athlete to be a very good defender, competing, instincts, rection time, lower body strength are all very important and he checks those marks. Klay Thompson is a good example and I think that the similarities with Joe Ingles are striking.

Offensively he's just really, really good. We don't know yet how good his shooting is, but it projects to be more capable than Saric imo, which makes him a better floor spacer. Off the catch he'll be good enough to attack the closeout and he's not the quickest guy, he really has different gears when he has the ball in his hands. For me that's more valuable in half court than the ability to run the quickest shuttle test. Watch his P&R ball handling skills and how he constantly gets defenders off balance, it's a joy to watch and absolutely phenomenal to possess those qualities at his age.

I need to see more progress to claim that he'll be an elite playmaker in the NBA, but he'll be at least far more valuable in an off-ball setting than Saric, which raises his floor significantly.

We have two 1st round picks(1 lottery) and 4 2nd round picks. Lakers pick around 7-10 and pick will be around 20-24. Who would you pick?

Miles Bridges with the lakers pick?

And how good is greek freaks younger brother kostas?

Would probably take one of the Bridges and draft a bunch of stashes. Not sure how the whole roster spot situation is gonna shake out but it looks like Okafor and Stauskas are gonna be coming off the books. You also assume Bolden is coming over next year so we add Bridges/Bolden/Potential max guy or high caliber starter.

Couldn't agree more. Add Diallo to this list. Bolden coming over makes me think we should focus on 3 and D guards/wings.

You guys shouldn’t get attached to those 2nds... a couple will be used to dump Bayless and whatever remains after that will be sold. Assuming the Sixers own pick is 15-20, as of now I really like Mikal Bridges or Bruce Brown.

Bonzie Colson is going to be that guy off the bench that every other team hates to play against. He's undersize, but versatile on defense, has an offensive game, and gets rebounds. I'd love to get him in the second, if that's even an option.
