I know. He did take some time to acclimate at Duke before he got going. Might be a similar thing here. Just once though it'd be great to see a "shooter" we draft come out and just light it up.

We got Bona as a result of that trade so I have no regrets.

We need to play man-to-man defense and assess if Kev Aluma can switch to perimeter players. If he can, he could be a valuable contributor with his length and shooting skills, allowing him to play as a stretch PF/C.

I believe Dowtin, Council, Bona, and Aluma have a good chance of being contributors to our team next year or at least being part of our roster. McCain has shown flashes of potential, but his shots aren't falling, possibly due to fatigue or being tensed, as evidenced by his missed free throws. He’ll be good once he finds his rhythm.

I don't put too much thought into the shoting in these game for several reasons:

Guys drafted are often trying to do too much stuff to showcase themselves for several reasons that can go from bitterness about thinking they should have been drafted higher, trying to show they can be on the rotations of their teams, being forced to take too many shots because they become first team options all of a sudden, etc.

Also, is a small sample on the first pro games of some of those guys

I think what matters from summer league is the flashes and the patterns you see. Korkmaz looked like MJ on summer league and Trae Young looked like a guy who was gonna be out of the league after his rookie contract.

Keve Aluma 6’11.5” wingspan with 8’10.5” standing reach.

Kel’ El Ware also looks impressive. His shot seems legit.

Not looking good for McCain he really has no stand out skill that would make him even a serviceable NBA player.

Oh well we hit the mother load with Maxey so it’s all good

Wasn't he MVP of the G League finals or whatever two years ago? He's got this level figured out, it's the next one that's the issue.

I find it comical how the national media is breathlessly reporting on every moment of a kid who might not ever be even a consistent G-League level player. I might feel for the kid if he had stayed in school and tried to carve out his own path instead of essentially forcing the hand of an incompetent franchise who had no choice but to waste a pick and a contract.

I get LeBron's desire to help out his kid. If I had his kind of juice, I might want to do the same for my kid. However, he inadvertently put Bronny in a position to fail, and publicly. Because it looks like Bronny just doesn't have it, at least right now.

If McCain were not our first round pick we wouldn't even mention him a lot here just based on what he has shown on the court so far.

I believe Jared McCain has the potential to be much better. He could develop into a scorer similar to Gary Trent Jr. or Norman Powell, but with better all around game. With his skillset, IQ, work ethic, and being around Maxey and Lowry, it's hard to imagine him not reaching his ceiling.

I see McCain more as a backup for when Maxey is not playing or is on the bench. While it's always good to have a strong backup, I'd be more comfortable if that player had a chance to be a starter, like Daron Holmes, Knecht or Terrence Shannon.

Better than Mikal Bridges in 3 years

Just imagine how good he can be if his follow thru is pointing at the rim and not at the window at the right

Yeah, maybe it's just summer league and we aren't getting the real version of him yet.
