I am so glad you aren't our GM. Trading McCain for anything beyond a top 25 player at this point is nuts.

Not saying it's what I want. I've been a McCain fan since before last year's draft. I'm saying it's a Morey move since he's desperate to win sooner rather than later.

Potentially. They'd need to dump more salary (Drummond).

Even with no other moves, if they let Grimes walk, they should have the full NTMLE ($14M) to offer Yabu.

I have no clue what it would take to retain Grimes. If Oubre opts in but they get off Drummond & Gordon's contracts for next year, I believe they'd have almost $23M to split between Yabu and Grimes.

I have no idea how much it would take to retain Grimes. Supposedly he denied an extension of 3 for 27 million... But that's maybe because he was delusional.

However, I question the logic that it will take 14 million plus for Yabu either. He'll be 30 years old, he's valuable specifically to title contenders at that price, most of them will not have the full mle available due to their cap situations. He's not a perfect 4 defensively nor 5 defensively...I works think he's worth his own 3 years 8 or 9 million type deal. Just my opinion. Would love to hear others.

Yeah, I don't think Yabu is a full-MLE guy. I do think he's more than a tax-MLE guy though (although there will always be guys that end up settling for less due to there not being enough spenders in the market). Maybe it's just a matter of freeing up cap to use the MLE, and giving him a decent portion of it. A contract similar to the one we gave Caleb feels about right.

The Sixers specifically signed KJ Martin to his deal to have as a trade-chip to acquire a player at the deadline. He's got a non-guaranteed contract for next year. There's no additional cost to him beyond this season.

As I said after the Caleb Martin trade. This trade deadline is showing the Sixers are shifting into reducing payroll because they're not going anywhere and Josh Harris wants to spend less money. He no longer has to pretend to try to get an arena deal through. He gave up on Center City.

Teams will sometimes spend $1m or $2M to buy a second pick. Sixers just gave up some to save a little bit of money this season.
