http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compare?add=2-ed-davis&i=1&p1=john-henson
been watching the forums a lot. in no way claim to be an expert, but seems to me henson and davis aren't that different, at least stats wise. if we really want a defensive big, why not just take a chance with the 8th +calderon+ davis for ig+15th? I think the chances of davis becoming a good role player(he's still young) aren't that much different then henson becoming a good role player. Plus we'd have the 8th pick and could use on a player that has a chance of becoming a all star scorer ( waiters, lamb, rivers) or if we do trade with gs, atleast take the bpa, drummond.
option 1 (IG+2 2rd picks for 7th+jefferson+wright)
jrue
turner/ross
jefferson/wright
brand/henson/lavoy
Vuc/lavoy
option 2 (same as above)
jrue
turner
jefferson/wright
brand/pj3
drummond
option 3 (ig + 15th for 8th + calderon + davis)
jrue/calderon
waiters or lamb or rivers
turner
brand/ed davis
vuc/lavoy
plus brand and calderon coming off the books for 2013 fa
You could obviously get rid of brand in any of the options and bring in a pf/c. I'd rather go option 2 or 3. I think option 1 keeps on track of being 8th seed in playoffs. plus we wouldn't really have anyone capable of becoming that all star player who could attract other all-stars ( plus with Jefferson's contract, we wouldn't have much cap room anyway) with options 2-3, we at least have a player or two who could have the potential to become that all star player that we desperately need. and if not, at least we'll be so bad that we'll be in the lottery next year and have another chance to find an all star player.

Henson has 5 inches of wingspan and 4 inches of standing reach on Davis. Not to say Henson is a 100% lock or anything, but he projects much better.
Do any mocks have Drummond getting past 6?
Welcome btw

Ed davis is just a end of rotation guy. Nothing special. I dont think sixers will insist on him if it comes down to it

Would GS technically be able to amnesty Richard Jefferson and then just absorb Andre's contract? So the Sixers would get Wright and #7 for Iggy? If that's possible in any way, I'd hope the Sixers counter with that offer.
No, they can't amnesty Richard Jefferson. They already used the 1 time amnesty on Charlie Bell last year.

"Sixerscan"
Do any mocks have Drummond getting past 6?
I have yet to see one that has him going past 6, and I have looked at 10 or 15 of them all over the internet over the past two weeks.

They wouldn't be able to amnesty him anyway because he was traded from the Spurs to GS in the middle of the year. If that were the case Elton Brand would have been long gone.

seems like the only way he'll be there if port takes lillard. I'm glad the 6ers are trying to get younger, but I just can't see henson being anything more than a defensive rotation player. just my opinion. for all i know, he could turn out like camby or ibaka. but I'd much rather take a chance on a potential all-star player if we are that high ( drummond, waiters, lamb, rivers). seems like theres plenty of bigs down at 15. (pj3, moultrie, zeller, jones, sullinger, leonard).

I thought we would hear some rumblings about Portland and Iggy by now, they've wanted him in the past, and there's a chance that they'd have to overpay to keep Batum.

Rumors floating that Sacramento is looking to move down and is planning to workout Harkless on Monday. Probably eliminates us as the potential partner since they wouldn't be looking to take a SF if they traded for Andre.

What are the friggin odds that a team like Chicago swoops in a trades GSW Deng and #29 for their #7 and Dorrell Wright and possibly Jefferson?

Man I really wanted rivers.
I'm fine with any of the scenarios tho. Ready for this team to start something new.

If the rumors are correct, slim and close to none since moving Deng or Noah would be for more immediate cap relief

Re: Sixers Offseason thread (sixerfan1976, dbodner, etc).
I like Dorell Wright as another shooter with length in the GS deal, but Jefferson and his deal are hard to swallow.
Calderon is a nice back-up and possibly a movable piece if another team's PG goes down mid-season. Davis is meh, but he is cheap. If they drop the demand for 15 (and nobody makes their best offer this early), I would take the Toronto deal over GSW.
I think we need to move up a few spots to grab Rivers or Ross. Would be happy if they fell. Wonder what it takes to get up to 13 from 15? Maybe a second rounder this year and next (I think we have 2 second rounders next season from the speights trade, don't we?).
They obviously see Henson as an Ibaka/Ratliff type. Thorpe seems to like him and he is usually pretty good with projecting big men.
I'd rather any of these possibilities over getting Al Jefferson from Utah.

It's a shame that we are debating mediocre option #1 vs mediocre option #2 vs standing pat.
Don't you just wish there was something the team could do where everyone was like "Wow! I'm buying season tickets tomorrow of this deal goes down!"

that would be nice and they would appreciate ticket sales but yeah we are stuck in mediocrity for awhile longer

Well at least one of those options involve us getting much younger.
Stockpiling young talent gives you a shot at getting disgruntled star down the road and potentially tank if it comes to that without looking like you failed (basically pulling the Jrue Holiday special of "hey guys..they are young").
I'm not overly joyed with the choice of guys (Henson and Ross) but it's a direction with very little downside, IMO. If Henson/Waiters/Ross sucks then so will the team which would lead to better picks. If they are merely average, then they can still be moves due to their age and "potential" (Besides if they are just ok they could still be useful). The Al Jeff option would be more whining about dudes being held back, mediocrity, losing him for nothing, Hawks and what not.
With this we are going young which means we will find out what we have in Jrue and Evan. If it stills ends up that we are first round fodder then fine we would be first round fodder with cap space and assets.
I'm fine with that...it will be something new at least.

@ sixerfan1976 Do you know what position the sixers want E.T to play next season and going forward? SG or SF? and what position do you see best fits him?

depends who they acquire..they think he can play both and it really doesnt matter what number you assign him. ball is going to be in his hands. the key is getting a shooter next to him and not another guy that likes the ball in his hands but cant score.

Ok, i feel the same. So is the ball going to be more in his hands or Jrue's ? Between those two who do you think becomes the main focus?
