For example, I can understand looking into a guy like Humphries in FA, but not if you are inclined to make the Utah trade for Jefferson or Milsap. However it shakes out, if Philly winds up with a bigger, more physical PF or C, they almost have to flank him with someone athletic. I go back and forth on Jefferson for example, but only if he is flanked by an athletic shot blocker and preferably one with a decent basketball IQ.

Hey Sixerfan, do you have any idea if Philly at least plans to lob a call into OKC and at least see if they would consider dealing Harden?

its a call i would make too but last i heard they intend on keeping him.

I havent done my homework that much on henson but what i have seen of him i like. I wouldnt count on him contributing right away tho.

I think Ross can play right now.....and be a starter by end of year if not sooner.

[quote="KrazySixersD"]dear god this is getting worse and worse the closer we get...

HENSON?? gtfo of here... so horrible...

WE GET IT YOU DON'T LIKE HENSON...every thread you bash the man...i hope you actually watch him play as opposed to looking at his measurements..

he was a pretty darn good player on Unc who probably was the most important player to their team's success because of how he changed the game constantly for the other team with his defense and shotblocking...

kendall ran the offense, but the defense was all through Henson..

anyways krazy im not going back and forth I know you don't like the guy, but i just dont think he is as awful as you make him out to be...

what is intriguing about ross and his length??

the fact that its odd that his wingspan is the same as his height, which is almost unheard of in bball players???

I thought the plan was to get an athletic big (Henson would fit that), but how does Humphries fit that. I actually would like him but I would hope for an athletic big next to him (Javale McGee for example)

I would like to get some real muscle for the boards to try to keep Lebron and Bosh; noah and gibson; west & hibbert; amare & chandler; etc off the boards...rebounding is so important to a team's success...humphries can really help with at assuming we can get the other parts we need...

if we can shore that up we can really look hard at shooters for the perimeter IMO

unc has 4 guys who are going to be drafted in the top 20... so of course they were good

but unc players lately havent done crap... zeller was dominant in college and is not going to be anything but average as a pro... same with kendall if hes even average... henson is not even a super young prospect either... hes coming out as a junior...

his FT percentage is below 50% for his career... and people were worried about drummond who yes hes stinks horribly, but atleast he was only a high school senior age wise

i would like to know what everyone sees in ross... he cant dribble, cant create his own shot, has a freakishly SHORT winspan, and can only hit the 3... ya we need 3 point shooters, but you can find those later

I don't like Henson either. Needs to bulk up big time to make an impact in the NBA. Length matters little when your getting bodied off ya spot up and down the court. Anthony DAvis is on the slender side also but hes still a little bigger than Henson and hes a FREAKISH athlete, and Davis is still growing so he can fill out that frame. Henson is too much of a project for imo at #15, and that includes Zeller and the rest of that so-called 5's in this draft. I would draft Sullinger (bad back or not, he has the game and body to man the 4 spot) or either Jones at 15 in a heartbeat. Even with their flaws. Only player i might take from UNC would be Barnes and hes going TOP 5.

I'm on the fence with Ross. Hes just a taller version of Jodie Meeks imo. He won't be a starter or have an immediate impact off the bench next year like some claim. I think he could develop a nice SG game eventually though. He moves well without the ball and can shoot the rock. Still don't see him being a good/very good defender like say Iggy or even Turner.

Sixers should try to do what they have to to move up and grab Waiters who will be a profilic scorer in this league (will need to work on his on-ball D tho). If they want to go big and move up, grab Drummond. If they stay at 15, grab Sullinger or Leonard, one should fall to 15.

My dream scenario that is somewhat realistic would be Thomas Robinson falling out of the top 4. Philly makes a trade with Sacramento to get Robinson at #5

Otherwise, I like the idea of Ross. I'm warming up to Terrence Jones. I'm liking Moultrie less.

I'm also intrigued with the two 2nd rounders. Could the Sixers trade up in the 2nd round to grab someone like Kyle OQuinn, Ezeli or Will Barton? Plumlee or Kyle Murphy might be interesting if they stand pat. I think there are guys in the 2nd round that can stick in the NBA, and Philly has actually done a decent job with 2nd round picks in recent memory.

who do you want them to take at 15. maybe i've missed it but I haven't seen you want them to do anything but trade up into the top 6 (which isn't happening)

Ross is more athletic and bigger than Meeks. Fans can bust on Meeks all they want, but the team lacks a player that can move without the ball and shoot from deep. For whatever reason, Meeks was wildly inconsistent with his shooting this past season. If he had been good, he would have made a big difference on the team. So getting a bigger and more athletic version is a good idea.

Plus, while Meeks tries hard on defense, sometimes he is liability out there. With Ross' size and athleticism he should be a better defender than Meeks. Having three 6'6" guys (Turner, Iguodala and Ross) playing defense against the opponent's PG, SG and SF is a good thing. And it allows them to switch more instead of playing through pick and rolls which means less mismatches.

yeah i think some people don't get what you should reasonably expect at 15. there aren't going to be perfect players at that point. ross brings things that every team needs:

good athlete
good shooter
good size at the 2/can probably play against some smaller 3s
gives a crap on defense

plus he's an early entry so he has some project-ability.

everything about him screams solid role player. that may not be what people want, but that's good value at this point in the draft.

Ross does not ahve long arms for a guy at 6'7", but he is a solid 6'7" tall so his length is good, just not exceptional, for the SG position. He is much bigger than Meeks and a very good athlete. He doesn't create for himself going to the basket (lacks the handle) but can finish on the break or on cuts to the basket. With a passing wing like Turner/Iggy and a PG next to him that is a good thing. The scouting report says he is a good defender. Having a good sized SG with deep range who doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective is exactly what this team needs.

I would not deal Iggy just to move up to number 8. Getting number 8 for him is fine, but 15 and Iggy for 8 is a joke.

Not a huge fan of Henson, he is painfully thin and didn't test well at all athletically.

I am okay with them not being big Drummond fans, there have been a bunch of physical freak big men of late that have been complete busts.

Waiters intrigues me, not quite the pure shooter we need, but might just be more of an alpha scorer than anyone on this team in a long time.

I agree that they shouldn't undervalue one of their best assets. Iggy is a good player. If we trade him, it should be for another good player. Of course it takes two to make a deal. But you'd think there'd be interest in a strong wing defender in the western conference where teams have to try to slow down durant.

Ross can also get his shot (he struggles getting to the rim) but he can dribble into his own shot.

His handle isn't Thad level bad.

If you are going to compare him to someone it would be more Nick Young than Carney or Meeks.

I'm not high on Ross either but it seems like dudes never watched the guy play.

If I had to pick a guy to take I would take Quincy Miller. because **** it maybe he can recover from his ACL injury and we have another Holiday on our hands.

I don't like Ross either... I think we can sign Rasual Butler and get the same exact thing Ross is gonna be. Thats just me though.

I wont cry if we draft Henson but I wont be doing cartwheels either. He's a project and will be a project right along with Vucevic.

I hope we take a shot at either Rivers, Sullinger, or Perry Jones. All three are the home run pick so many of us speak of and it would be the best we could do at 15.

Henson is a guy I'd only be happy with if we got someone else too (i.e another draft pick..lol). He blocks shots..I guess.

So I'm guessing no interest in Lamb?
