Josh Harris wanted Hinkie last year, but Doug "Old School" Collins reportedly lobbied for a traditional GM and Harris listened. After parting ways with Collins, I reckon Harris figured there was no point in keeping DiLeo anymore.

Hinkie has been with HOU for 6+ seasons; he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations in 2010. He carried huge weight in HOU's decision making, especially when it came to determining players' monetary market values. One example: It was Hinkie's decision to waive Jeremy Lin the first time around.
