Hinkie had been the Houston Rockets' vice president of basketball operations since 2010.

I'm not sure if he was with them prior, however regardless until then he wouldn't have had much of a say in their decision making.

Philadelphia 76ers: Old school style, New school management.

Sounds strange.

I would love Tyreke Evans, look at his numbers this past season, commensurately, they're arguably better than his rookie season. We have got to trade Turner if we're to go after Evans though.

I would love to get Tyreke as well. He is great at taking it to the rack strong

I'm glad it is a new school guy....although I think Tony got a bad rap. He wasn't even GM when we made the Bynum trade lol.

anyway...i want results and a direction. Despite what we may want...coming out and saying we will suck for a bit is not good for business...it's funny since the Rocket were mediocre and stockpiled players to pawn off for Harden. They kinda got lucky that OKC was selling...otherwise they would have been hoping for Linsanity to re-occur and probably would have sucked....jus sayin wasn't exactly a tough decision to trade Martin for Harden.

He needs to get his coach and get us dat dude. If he can't then who gives a **** about his fancy numbers.

It's not easy to turn things around in the NBA. They did turn it around though after losing their franchise center in Yao to foot injuries.

I'm pretty sure Evan Turner is hoping Hinkie doesn't start to look at his stats.

I interviewed with Hinkie in Houston back in October. I can almost guarantee that Turner is the first guy shipped out.

Hinkie is more Morey's partner-in-crime than disciple.

Josh Harris wanted Hinkie last year, but Doug "Old School" Collins reportedly lobbied for a traditional GM and Harris listened. After parting ways with Collins, I reckon Harris figured there was no point in keeping DiLeo anymore.

PhilasFinest wrote:Yea. Thorn is gone, but will remain a "consultant"

Yeah, Hinkie will take over Thorn's job as the president of basketball operations as well.

Hinkie has been with HOU for 6+ seasons; he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations in 2010. He carried huge weight in HOU's decision making, especially when it came to determining players' monetary market values. One example: It was Hinkie's decision to waive Jeremy Lin the first time around.

I'm not going to hold that against him, lol.

If I'm not mistaken because ET has shown to be very poor in his advanced statistics. Mainly due to his inefficiency.

A very realistic move IMO could be us not re-signing Bynum and going "money ball" in using the money we'll have in the offseason.

We could also accumulate all our assets (Thad+Jrue+ET) for a superstar then surround it with role players and guys we can acquire via cap. (Rox way of doing it)

Rox was one of the team who is reported to be interested in re-signing Bynum. Could HInkie be leaning to re-signing Bynum? Could we have the upper hand in re-signing Bynum after acquiring Hinkie? Could we have some inside information on how much the Rox really is willing to offer Bynum?

Stop it guys.

If you want to win in the NBA nowadays, you have not so much options:
1) Have LeBron
2) Have Kevin Durant
3) Take the best big guy available and surround him with talent

All the other options are just pure panic

We took option 3. Giving up after 1 setback would be panic and stupid.

I also think the presence of Bynum could be appealing for other FA's, I don't think we're very sexy without him for star players.

That isn't winning in the NBA nowadays, it has been a star driven league since the 70's. Two keys to success...a dominant big, and superstars...been the recipe for most of my life.

Ok, and how many dominant bigs do you see today in the NBA?

We probably have the best one (if heatlhy). So why give up after 1 setback?

This is a homerun for the Sixers today for one reason. He's new and different. Long term we will see if he can produce. But right now it's a great move.

We needed someone from outside the organisation with a fresh and unbiased view. If we can also get a coach from outside our club i would be ecstatic. Pretty sure Turner has no more future with us.
