Sixers are going to lose a ton of games again next season.. Maybe the next year they will finally get their man. Creating a log jam like this is just going to de-value every single one of them.

They really better hope Embiid turns into something special. Otherwise, it's going to be another 5 years before they are even competitive. I don't think Hinkie anticipated LA taking a Guard.

Did Okafor even work out for the Sixers?

I think we all need to take some LSD, tape our eyes open, and watch highlight vids of Okafor for 48 hours straight.

Okafor could become an absolute stud down low. He may not have the 2 way upside Embiid has, BUT he's 1. healthy and 2. Just as skilled down low, if not more.

I understand the fit, but he was the absolute no brainer pick at 3.

Do people still think it was a "smoke screen" with Embiid? I don't think he was a big fan of the pick either..

Even with Russell, we were gonna lose a lot of games next year. If you thought otherwise, your delirious.

Were taking the best players available to us....Get them on the floor, and see who's got it and who don't. once you find out who has IT, you make moves to build around them. not vice versa.

If Embiid played last year, or was fully healthy I would understand some backlash on picking Okafor. But for all the praise Embiid's upside gets, his long term health is a SERIOUS issue. Insuring him as our foundation building block, with another elite blue chip big man is Not the bad thing.

As long as your ok with a 7-10 year rebuild.. Sure, you can draft and hope. Might be better to try and build with some resemblance of balance. The Sixers roster right now looks so far away from contention now it's not even funny. If all 3 are healthy next season, Is Noel a backup? Is he being traded? For what? What are you really going to get for Noel on the open market? Marcus Smart? I understand the take the BPA route, but I think Hinkie has been overthinking things, been too cute, and now his roster is a mess.

And there supposedly very very good friends.

Honestly, If Embiid doesn't like the pick, get healthy and get on the floor. Hard to 100% build around a guy with question marks on his health.

Exactly. How are people mad with getting the consensus #1 pick for most of the season?

How long did it take OKC to rebuild? Or the Warriors to become relevant again?

It doesn't happen overnight and you have to HIT on a pick to start moving forward. Noel seems like a hit, but he took a year to reach the floor. Embiid is a ?. If Okafor comes out and dominates, and flashes star potential....suddenly your rebuilding is taking a step forward and you can look to add the pieces via trade, draft and FA to build the right team around him.

I hear your frustrations, and i feel them too....but Id rather have Okafor, who I think has more "star" potential than someone like Mudiay.

Because now we have 3 of them and apparently that's too many.

SMH wrote:I would have traded multiple picks next year for Russell, heat and lakers will most likely be playoff teams after the offseason and thunder will also be a playoff team.

Plus even though its early, I think next draft is super weak. Ahh this log jam is just annoying, gonna be sad watching these bad philly guards for another year.
/endrant

kind of a logjam in LA with three starters in the backcourt, and the only free agent that they are clear favorites for is Rondo. Kobe will keep Russell under his wings. the frontline is kind of depending on a rehabbing rookie with no outside shot and poor D. i might be a little more worried that the pick edges too close to top 3 for comfort.

The frontcourt is set, keep all 3 down the line and we just gotta focus on the wings

Okafor was also shat on by many here, that might also be the reason some don't love the pick. I love that tons of Lakers fans are pissed though.

Btw, I'm still waiting for this draft to be Hinkied, is it coming soon?
