if harden plays solid team d, redick is on all-defensive 1st team

harden is a travesty on defense and no superstarthings he does on offense will ever let me ignore his atrocious d

- biggest positive change is this allows the Rox to have an elite playmaker on court most times. Unlike before where Rox playmaking declines when Harden is on the bench
- I dont think we need to overthink about how Harden-CP3 works. MDA is stubborn that they'll just continue to run heavy PnR.

I agree that 2 superstars will figure it out, but I worry about the defense, especially if things start off poorly. Beverley was a very good defender with extreme energy. Teams could use tall playmakers to create mismatches against them, if Harden continues to play poor defense.

Its not like they traded Beverly's defense for Jose Calderon's defense. Personally, I think Harden plays solid team D while he conserves his energy on offense, which wont be the case now with CP3z And quite frankly, as long as you can provide elite offense, you can be a very good team. And for the rockets, they still got Ariza/Capela on D.

Good points, great teams had elite 2 way players, Jordan + Kobe types, Harden may have to provide that kind of defense to make it work. Harden may surprise us, but it's highly unlikely. Anyway, I thought Harden was being praised this year for taking over as an elite point guard. Just seems redundant with CP3, thought Houston needed an elite big man rather than another PG.

For me Rockets are struggling to be elite because they are weak at the most important position in today's basketball. The forward position.

Let's say Rox has an elite SF ",even like a Melo, that would force teams to put their SGs on Harden. Unlike right now, where the Spurs can put Kawhi on Harden and Green on Ariza. Similar dynamics to the MJ-Pippen or Wade-LBJ dynamics.

Currently, the weak link for me is Ryan Anderson. He's a neutral defensive player at best, while most of his production lies with his inconsistent (relative to good shooters) shooting.

And overall, defense really is not an issue if you dig deep on the rockets' roster make-up. Like Cavs, their concept is that they'll run super elite offense that you can't match. It's just for the Rox, they were too reliant on Harden. Right now they have a guy who can take pressure off Harden with CP3. And can now put pressure on opponents D for 48 mins.

Harden isn't as bad on defense as people give him **** for. Ryan Anderson is pretty bad though

Now that getting Fultz pushed us out of the free agent point guard game, I sort of like the idea of going after Paul Milsap, if he would sign for 2-3 years that is.

He is a veteran stretch 4 that would make us better. I'm sort of leery of adding any of the current free agents out there, but Milsap is interesting. Unfortunately, I haven't read anything about our interest in him or his interest in us.

Guys who can play 4:
- Ben Simmons
- Saric
- Bolden
- Maybe Holmes

I'd rather overpay for a SG/SF

Shawn Long and Jarrod Uthoff. Don't waive them, Morey, just keep them as excellent and cheap small minute reserves.

Celtics..
- what they don't understand is how superteams are built. You need to have atleast one superstar to banana boat into a group. They are starting off with IT and Horford. Their 1st place record is cute, but that wont attract other superstars.

And even if they end up with Hayward and George. It really doesn't matter because both aren't superstars. Put them all 4 together and 1-3 of the four core guys will be reduced into role players.

Morey traded for Uthoff yesterday in addition to Long. He's stocking up on cheap analytics crushers to surround his stars, something I wish Colangelo would do more of.
jonjames is a signature bet welcher.

I'm starting to think that buzz about Paul George to Washington in exchange for an Otto Porter S&T might have some legs to it

If I'm George, I'd much rather go to Washington than Boston. Especially since Boston has Tatum and Brown that need to get minutes

Washington becomes a very scary team if that happens. Pacers would also be in a good situation. Would love to see how Otto grows in a higher usage role.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Spurs are going to trade Aldridge for pennies on the dollar and sign Blake Griffin and Hayward/Lowry.

yeah I agree about the Wiz. For all the talk about the Bucks and Celtics, I've always felt like the Wizards would most likely be the biggest threat to us in the East if LeBron ever falls off for whatever reason (age, changes team, etc)

the main problem with Washington is that their bench is awfully shallow. But that isn't as big of a deal in the playoffs. Kelly Oubre has been somewhat of a disappointment for them

I think that trade would put Otto Porter Jr. in kind of a rough spot though. He'd be on a max contract on a relatively bad team with a fair amount of expectations. And tbh, Im not exactly sold on him being more than a 3&D guy yet. I think he's a damn good 3&D, but whenever those guys seem to be thrust into starring roles, it doesnt usually live up to expectations.

Downside of Kawhi's personality is he has weak banana boat game

Jazz just traded a 1st rd pick for Ricky Rubio.

Probably a sign that George Hill won't be returning

With PG going to OKC, the Boston fans have to be upset. They lost out on Butler and George. I don't know what the likelihood of Hayward going to Boston is, but even if they land him, they'll need more than that to really compete with Cleveland. Ainge looks like he's in for a full rebuild soon since many contracts expire next season.

did Boston draft a guy they didn't want at #3 in hopes of trading him to the Pacers as a replacement for PG?

if so...lol

Haha Ainge. In a move that surprises no one but gullible Celtic fans, Ainge refuses to trade assets worth more than oladipo and sabonis. Enjoy your half baked team next year Celtic fans.
