He's been relegated to a salary dump. Can we not even take another team's hated player?

Hezonja, etc.

So we basically couldn't even give Okafor away for free.

I took that as the sixers decided to keep Okafor rather than give him away for nothing. Sounds like Ainge would take him for free.

BC just teasing the desperate Ainge right now.

Solid addition. He's always carried himself as a pro and is underrated defensively.

You have 240 minutes a game to fill. The 76ers now have depth. How do the minutes fall? Not every night, of course, but on average.

Something like this?

Embiid 30
Simmons 28
Covington 22
Saric 22
Reddick 22
Bayless 20
Fultz 20
Johnson 16
TLC 12
McConnell 12
Stauskas 10
Holmes8
Okafor 8
Korkmaz 6
Anderson 4

Stauskas 10
Holmes8
Okafor 8
Korkmaz 6
Anderson 4

Ignoring rest nights, something like

PG: Fultz (30), Bayless (8) TJ (10)
SG: Redick (28), TLC (12), Bayless (8)
SF: Covington (32), Simmons (10), TLC (6)
PF: Simmons (20), Saric (24), Johnson (4)
C: Embiid (28), Johnson (14), Holmes (6)

Stauskas, Anderson, Korkmaz, and Okafor (or whoever replaces him) out of the rotation.

The main issues though are that lineups with Saric + Simmons won't be great (basically need Embiid out there next to them). Also Holmes seems likely to be the one losing minutes here unless you cut down Bayless or TJ's minutes or bump one from the rotation and then have Amir get more minutes at PF, Simmons get more minutes at SF, and TLC gets all of his minutes at SG. You're going to end up with some pretty huge lineups though with suspect spacing because you're going to be playing 3 of Simmons/Saric/Johnson/Holmes at the same time, and none of them are plus shooters.

you'll love amir. wouldn't be surprised to see him get a few starts next to embiid.

embiid-amir-simmons-fultz-reddick

saric first sub in for amir.

Covington is more likely to lead this team in minutes than get bumped from the starting lineup.

A move to show how easy it is to get a defensive big.

Weird signing imo. I doubt he's gonna give you much. Certainly better players out there but guess they wanted some kinda vet? He'll be happy to cash in, he would've done it for a lot less too.

LOL yup. C's lose a big... and Okafor is sitting there surplus to our requirements. Come on Danny... you don't need all those future 1st round draft picks surely.

Keep Okafor in the d-league, plenty of mins with our 5 bigs. Amir is getting paid some nice money this season so he's gonna get minutes

Read that he's unathletic and immobile

On average, even "healthy" starters miss about 10-15% of the season (8-12 gms.) While many bench players get a mix of DNPs and nights when they get a decent 15min+ run. Taking this into account, the true amount of minutes available is more like 36 min at each position for starters (32 min and 10-15% more due to missed games) and 20 min for back-ups (16 min and 20% more for injuries and DNP's.)

Since few players will play all 82... taking into account DNP's and injuries, when you look at minute distribution you can more accurately have about 56 minutes for each position.

Basically, guys like Stauskas, TJ and Anderson will end up averaging more min/game, but taking a share of DNP's. All of the starters will also get heavier minutes but not likely play all 82 games. While Korkmaz will take a lot of DNP's early, but be given a chance to get NBA minutes later in the year, like TLC last year- but to a lesser degree.

:noway: Simmons is playing PG... whether people want it or not.
