If his vision is a-ok and he is cleared by concussion, I don't see what the issue would be in him playing with a mask. No significant risk for further injury from the doctors I've heard speak about this injury. Unless Joel is just in too much pain. Insiders and doctors said in 2 weeks it would come down to a pain tolerance decision.

Did he have the next check up?

Not yet, but I've heard that they are being cautious with his recovery and it would be closer to the 3 week timeframe than 2 weeks

Say we go down 0-1 does that change when he comes back at all? Does he come back ahead of schedule if we're behind?

I cannot speak for the organization but judging by their past behavior, i would doubt he plays until cleared by Dr and team approves his return

Ah, so was the probability that he misses the first few games your own opinion, or is that what the team has been discussing. I guess I'm just a little confused given that the 2nd checkup hasn't been conducted by the doctor. The team doesn't even know what the doctor has been saying. From what I head he was supposed to start shooting drills and on-court work already. I know we are always unnecessarily cautious. I just can't imagine Embiid wanting to even miss 1 game. If the questions are pain tolerance, why do they feel an extra week of healing is going to prevent re-injury? It's just a week with a flimsy mask... If he gets hit in the face I doubt a week is going to make a difference...

Sorry just frustrated, I'll be really disappointed if we lose round 1 because our crack medical staff choose now to be cautious, but had no problem trotting Embiid out last year against Houston after he had a meniscus tear.

The missing of a few games was what i heard today. There has been no setback. Its more of the swelling and pain.

Game 1 will be 2 weeks from the date of his surgery so its not something to be disappointed in. Just a freak injury at a bad time

Honestly. Embiid likely misses first game. Sixers probably hoping for Sunday/Wednesday or whatever weird in days off the nba schedule dictates.

It’s it’s Saturday/Monday first two games. Yes. I feel he misses both games.

2-4 weeks with sixers...the way the organization handles injuries. Embiid could be out entire 1st round the way the sixers operate. Than he may be deconditoned not having played in 3-4 weeks. Which would suck. Cause I feel he was in he zone in terms of fitness especially that junk against milsap Denver game. Finally felt Joel got his hops back. That explosion he was missing most of the season

It is what it is.

If he misses the first two games hopefully we split them at least and then he comes back in game 3.

Sixers winning without embiid in playoffs really depends if other teams are willing to slow down the pace. Of course u have to have elite players who can slow the game down and break down the sixers defense without rim protectors. Wizards pacers would give the sixers the most trouble I feel since they got guards who can take it to the hoop and or kick out for open 3s.

Brown said that he is unlikely to play in game 1. The fact that it is even possible that he DOES, means that he isn’t all that bad.

If we lose the first game, then I would think that there would be a good chance that he would play in the second, but if not, then hopefully the third.

It will probably be a day by day process over the next 2 weeks.

I still say he plays game 1.... what purpose would it serve for our coach to say we expect him to play game 1 or even that there is a chance? We dont want whoever we play to have any idea on if he plays or not.

Embiid is going to play game 1 IMO.... Maybe it is the last shred of optimism I have left in my body with this team, but the stars are aligning for us in a crazy way, that has to mean something right?

He’s not playing until game 3 at the earliest. People are being way too optimistic about his timetable.

I think there is a hope that Embiid will be cleared and the decision be his and how much pain he can tolerate. If that's the case, there is a definite belief that he'll play game 1. We shall see.

I'd say it's game 3 at the latest, and game 1 at the earliest...

You are basing this on nothing but your negative opinion and have no facts to back that up.

Hey man, so you think it's possible he plays earlier? Any more updates?
