Why?

Because we don’t need Horford. Never needed. He cannot co-exist with Embiid.

It was an awful singing last year.

I'd feel a lot better about this trade if we use that TPE and not just pocket the savings.

I will say, however, that Daryl does not have "the Longest View in the Room"™ with this trade. Leaning more towards "Landing the Plane"™.

I mean we have expirings to match salary instead of horfords deal now

Harris is a much better fit and player at PF and is in his prime years playing for a coach who knows how to get the best out of him. Horford was a more movable contract, but still a bad one and his fit here was just terrible. Agree with Bully, the deal looks a lot better if that TPE is used in a subsequent deal. 2025 is past the Jo/Simmons window, why they wanted it and why we gave it up.

Good point. True

True, but part of our problem is that our best PF plays out of position at point guard

Good trade, Green and Ferguson are useful guys, they can shoot 3's. And everybody knows that you need to add some picks to trade the Horford contract.

Presti will trade Horford for a first next year lol

Which is where we should be. Not win now at all costs, but preserves assets during the prime of our window.

Thank god he's out of here. There is nothing more frustrating to a young player than an old guy taking up all the cap space and playing time because of that contract. He was a terrible fit and a terrible signing and one of the reasons I stopped watching the Sixers last year

Horford signing was an overreaction to the Joel's +/- rating in Game 7.

Harris signing was an overreaction to Butler situation & cap economics.

Brand panicked as GM, and now Morey is cleaning it up.

A lot more flexibility now. This was a good deal.

Could be worse, we could have done this just to sign Rajon Rondo:

Sixers received: Nik Stauskas, Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, the right to swap first-round picks with the Kings in 2017, and an unprotected first-round pick in 2019

Kings received: The draft rights to Arturas Gudaitis and Luka Mitrovic, presumed cap space to sign free agents

Yeah.

Green 15 + Scott 5 + Ferguson 4 are 24M expiring

I am a Simmons at point whatever guy, I kind of hate him at PF.

The next step should be moving Tobias Harris contract as well. He is the only non-superstar who has value... For him the sixers need a good PF and a decent backup PG for Ben. Then a back up center for Embiid in FA.
