Glorious to look at a box score and see Maxey/VJ/Grimes all with 20+

I blame both sides , they should have been able to meet at the middle.

Now what happens if he outplays both PG and Mccain this season?

We have his bird rights this summer so still have a good chance to sign him, or S&T for value. Missed our chance to lock him up long-term with a value deal.

But at least Joshy saves money on luxury tax!

the infusion of youth and athleticism will be a nice distraction should PG & Biid fall apart again. If they stay healthy, we're in for a really fun year. I want this team to win a championship obviously but more than that and realistically, I want the team to be fun again and at least give me hope.

Where the Edgecombe haters at. Since Ace shunned us I'm a full convert. Kid is the truth.

Wasn’t sure if we did. That’s good news.

Probably the most offensive firepower the Sixers have put around Embiid in his entire career. Only took them until he had a ticking time bomb on his knee to make it happen.

If Embiid can do less on offense and focus on defense and rebounding we might become a winner and it might make him way more durable. Simplifying his game is what I yet to see...

Hoping Maxey is just heat checking the preseason because his outside shots were Curry in his prime attempts. Loved the rim finishing though.

I was impressed with vj's all around game. He just fill up the stats sheet. I love guards who can get rebounds. My only worry with him is his 3 ball. If he can shoot like 35-37% from 3 with good volume, in a couple of years, he will be a star. His handle will became better too, and he will have a good mid Jumper i hope.

The Wolves were a mess offensively, which allowed us to generate turnovers. Both teams played with low defensive intensity, giving the whole game an exhibition feel.

I’m confident VJ will develop into a good shooter.. his form is clean, and he’s been hitting around 90–100% of his free throws since Summer League, if I’m not mistaken. Still, his lack of shooting confidence is limiting our offense. There were several possessions where he passed up open looks because he wasn’t ready to pull the trigger, and defenses are already sagging off him, which takes away his driving lanes. That said, there were A LOT of other positives in his game today that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Grimes picked up right where he left off. The 6th-man role fits him perfectly..he’s getting more touches, freedom, and scoring chances off the bench.

Embiid, meanwhile, operated in that Dirk Nowitzki-style role that was almost unthinkable to some a few years ago. You can see him evolving his game to play more below the rim to protect his meniscus. His jumper is becoming a key weapon offensively, while his IQ and mobility remain central to his defensive presence. He basically played like a supersized Sengun, and that’s still really damn good.

Embiid looks like Embiid. VJ showing flashes.

Keeping expectations low, but if either Embiid can stay healthy or VJ/McCain continue to add to what they've shown on the court, then it should be a fun season.

Maxey & VJ are going to be a fun transition duo this season. I loved the style they played with double bigs and pushing pace off misses with their guards with Embiid trailing. This could definitely be a 50-win team with some health luck.

If Embiid can play more like LaMarcus Aldridge and to a lesser extent, Dirk, maybe Duncan, he's going to be fine. Live in the mid range, free throw line extended area. Run PNR with Maxey, that's really where he'll flourish and it'll allow Bona to be on the floor with him to help with our rebounding issues.

Anyone concered with Edwards? Was hoping he could stamp a role as a 3&D wing but he hasnt been able to show much. I know its still early but the opportunity is there.

I am. I was hoping that he could evolve into a great role player, but after watching him in Summer League and Preseason, I'm not expecting much from him this year.

First off, I know you mean well and are just referring to his posture, not calling him Wiggins 2.0.

I actually like that comparison in terms of posture. Bailey’s similar too, by the way. I studied a lot of Wiggins’ game back in 2014 during all the draft debates. I was in the anti-Wiggins camp then.

I’d describe his posture as more upright than stiff, which comes with both pros and cons. The downside is he’s not as shifty laterally. The upside is that his upright posture gives him a taller standing reach, helpful when contesting shots, shooting over defenders, grabbing boards, or extending for dunks. Same trade-off Wiggins had.

The big difference with Wiggins, though, is that Edgecombe’s got a much better feel for the game, higher IQ, real guard instincts/passing ability, and a solid shooting foundation. If Wiggins had those, he might’ve been close to Jimmy or Kawhi’s level.

A lot of Edgecombe’s upside for me lies with his shooting. Right now, it’s very promising (FT indicator and shooting history) but it’s below average right now. And if he can be a good shooter, it will open up a lot on our offense and in his game.
