I don't know exactly how he fits into a rotation with Miller, Lou, and Iguodala if he shifts to the 2 (to make room for Thad at the 3 and a PF to be named later). But, the guy has SOME value.
Some value... sure. But if/when the shift of Iguodala to the 2 happens this summer... where is Willie going to get his minutes? Even if he gets minutes, I'm fine with that since he can supply some offense off of the bench. I'm just not a believer in Willie Green getting starters' minutes for a team that is contending for something more than 6th seed in the Least.

As the team amasses more talent, he could flourish as a combo guard off the bench.
He can't play point. We already suffered through that experiment earlier in his career.
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

Green's play has improved this year and especially recently. He does not dominate the ball (and should never be allowed to play at the point) as much, he's become more efficient scoring and he is taking the ball to the hole more often like he did before he was hurt. On this team he deserves to be starting, by next year he should be coming off the bench if this team intends to improve. As a third or fourth guard I think he is fine. He is not really a combo guard, he is a shooting guard plain and simple.
A lot of people, including me, were upset because BK gave him that ridiculous contract when he was still far away from being fully recovered from the knee injury. The total money and number of years were bad, but all he did was sign the contract our GM was dumb enough to give him. It took him a long time to recover his explosion and ability/willingness to drive to the basket after the injury, and truthfully it seemed more mental than physical after a while.
He is streaky, journeyman SG who is playing well right now and has never had a bad attitude about starting or coming off the bench. He is s useful piece, nothing more, nothing less. Hating on the guy for getting paid when he shouldn't have is misdirected anger.

Green is starting because the Sixers hardly have any other choice. Everybody else sucks. And no, Green can't defend 2 guards.
