I'm not sure I like it. He's been on the bench for 2 years.

Compared to Ewing who's been on the bench for 8 years.

It hasn't quite been eight years (he started in '03 as a special assistant for the Wizards) but I got your point. Hey, I'm all for interviewing Ewing as well. I'd rather see Laimbeer or Marleje or Ewing over guys like Casey, Mitchell, or Collins.

I don't mind giving someone like Casey a 2nd chance, since he got fired after doing about as well as expected with a horrible team. I'm less impressed by coaches who had 4 years with a team with out evidence of improvement.

likes others have said i like that were not looking at the same old recycled crap coaches who havent won a damn thing....but i also dont want them to start just reaching out there for anyone willing to take the job...i still think laimbeer is one of the best if not the best to take a chance on...the man won nba championships..played during some of the golden years against some of the best ever if not the best ever..bird..magic..jordan..kareem...dr.j...i really think this would help him coach this team..toughen em up..give some attitude and teach em how to play together..he was coached by chuch daly..so he had to learn something...bring him and his staff in...fire the gm now and get someone else..and lets see what we can do...cant be much worse........

Based on this article, I don't think Sam Mitchell would be a bad choice. I like his comments on Iggy and Sammy.

If not HC, perhaps they could bring him in as an assistant and get Ayers the hell out of here...

I'm still rooting for Budenholzer as HC.

I have no idea if he can coach, but at least it's fun to say, "Thunder Dan".

Stay away from Thunder Dan- Thanks, Suns fans.

In all seriousness, Dan is a great coach. Philly would be dumb to not hire him.

For some reason I'm really interested in Thunder Dan, maybe more so than Lambieer.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

He played under Riley as well as Cotton Fitzsimmons and was an athletic defensive specialist who made himself into a deep sniper. Smart player; I'd be interested in hearing him out.

Based on the current names, I am on the Laimbeer train...

Time for this team to grow a sack.

Looks like Laimbeer is up tomorrow. If it's him at the end I'm totally fine with the pick.

Right now my order of the "rumored" candidates are:

1 - Laimbeer
2 - Thibs
3 - Casey
4 - Williams
5 - Marleje
6 - Mitchell
7- Collins
8 - Avery

I haven't quite figured out where to place Budz yet but he'd be somewhere in the middle of the pack for me around Marleje.

After they meet w/ former Raptors coach Sam Mitchell on Sunday, the 76ers will interview Bill Laimbeer.

I would wait a while(per my article on RealGM). Mike Woodson's a gem. Winning 50 games with THAT Hawks squad is a feat in of itself. Brown had great defenders in Charlotte and virtually in every other turnaround he's been in. Woodson had none of that in Atlanta. He had what we have: hybrid forwards who one day can be studs and most other days duds. And he won 50 games with that crap.

Mike Woodson for HC. It's not about the "brown era" whoever whines about that crap. It's about getting and keeping a winning coach. And to win 50 games with that sad sack of a roster, he's in.

I love how you constantly blast the hawks but they are a clearly superior team to ours at every position

that team should win 50 games. And that's why they did.

I love that laimbeer has come into the mix.
I like what I've heard from blazer fans about Williams, alot of them would rather keep Jim than mcmillian

To me, Laimbeer possesses a lot of the qualities that the Sixers are/should be looking for..

1- He's a tough coach who will be defense oriented

2- He has name recognition which may help excite the fan base.

3- I imagine that he'll bring Rick Mahorn with him which further adds to the good PR for the team

4- He's willing to take a bad job in order to become a head man. He left his gig with the Shock to become an assistant in Minnesota so I don't think he'd turn this job down.

5- He'll come cheap.

C-Al Horford C-Samuel Dalembert
PF-Josh Smith PF-Elton Brand
SF-Marvin Williams SF-Thaddeus Young
SG-Joe Johnson SG-Andre Iguodala
PG-Mike Bibby PG-Jrue Holiday.

Battle of the Guards: Bibby VS Holiday.

Bibby's an old man whose career is just about as done as the Hawks will be on Monday. He can hit the 3 ball occasionally, but that's it. Compared to Jrue Holiday, whose tall at 6'4. He can finish with his off hand, contrary to naysayers he's very athletic. He's quick, he has great court vision and is an excellent fast-break point guard. If there's one thing we can thank EJ for besides the pick, it's that Holiday developed off-the-ball much quicker then anyone would've anticipated.

Sixers: 1, Hawks :0.

So OMG, I think there's a position we're better then them in.

Battle of the Guards part 2: Johnson VS Iguodala.

Admittedly, this one goes to Johnson. Although Iguodala would make it close by cutting turnovers and playing the kind of aggressive D he did in his rookie/sophomore year.

Sixers: 1, Hawks: 1

Battle of the Forwards: Williams VS Young.

I can't wait, because many Sixers fans have complained about Thaddeus Young. How would you like to have drafted Marvin Williams #2 overall? Williams has declined so fast he had as bad of a year as Mike Bibby. It's almost laughable when someone wrote an article "what would the market be for Marvin Williams". The market be for Marvin Williams? The question should be rephrased "would we even get a FIRST for Marvin Williams?" Needless to say, his horrific season makes it so that comparing to Young's down season is stupid. Comparing him to Young as a player is stupid.

Sixers: 2, Hawks: 1

Battle of the Forwards, Part 2: Smith VS Brand.

Josh Smith has the theoretical advantage, in the fast break. But none else. Smith has no jumper, he has no handles. He's not really going to drive it in on Elton Brand. He's a more athletic, vastly inferior Shawn Marion. That's it. Sure, the weakside blocks are nice. Especially with Horford. But too bad a 6'8 tweener in Smith couldn't possibly box out Elton Brand or any other legitimate big for that matter.

Brand on the other hand can hit the 15 footer and he can attack a Smith in the post. This match-up could be said to be a wash. Especially if the Hawks have trouble getting out on the break. So we'll give half a point to each.

Sixers: 2.5, Hawks: 1.5

Battle of the Centers: Horford VS Dalembert.

Al Horford is the lone consistent on the Hawks. Whether he's played at the 5 or the 4, he's legit at both positions. So frankly, he's only the 2nd player on the Hawks(the other is Johnson) that can play multiple positions and still fit. He's a great shotblocker, good rebounder. He's accumlating fouls like crazy in the Magic series because of the non existant front-court and back-court help. Sound familar?

Samuel Dalembert this year, has also been our lone consistant. He's been a great shotblocker, rebounder. He's had some amazing performances. But it was a matter of time when he gave up on this loser season as well. Half a point to each.

Final total: Sixers: 3, Hawks 2.

The Sixers rape at the PG, SF positions. Hawks Rape at the SG position and their PF and C's have advantages/disadvantages going for them.

LOL. Can you imagine Laimbeer & Mahorn tag teaming Sammy when he's farting around in practice or before the game? The practices should be more entertaining then our games.
