Another Draft Night, another letdown. But at 37, the pick we wanted from LAC, they drafted Trey Thompkins, a player we supposedly loved. Could the Clips trade be coming? Probably not, but it's clutch at straws time.

Eh. I can't say I'm necessarily disappointed. I'm glad they didn't trade Iggy just for the sake of trading him. I think Vucevic can come in and have an impact right away. Will he ever be a great NBA player? No. But he fills a need, and we are really banking on the development of ET and Jrue in order to have a shot at making noise in the playoffs, anyway, so filling a need and taking a guy with somewhat low potential isn't the worst thing in the world.

I was prepared for it. Hopefully everyone else was as well. They wonder why no one goes to the games.

Here's a tip:

Run the team like you care and maybe people will come. I guaran****ingtee you all we'll hear about Lavoy Allen is that he's a good kid/local kid/tough kid/etc etc. All the cliches. They'll run the local Fran Dunphy angle down our throats.

"He was coached by a winner in Fran Dunphy!"

I agree.

For the people who push for a Iguodala trade, Rod/Stefanski duo failed to pull off any trade.

For those who want to build on the existing team, they bring in a guy who is potentially as soft as Hawes + the Temple boy just for kicks.

Hope the ownership at least bring in some fresh blood to the FO when the team sale goes through.

Wow..we all had things we would have liked to happen, but this board was flooded, last night, with comments and opinions based largely on players, workouts and trade discussions we know VERY little about. How many times can we write passionate statements condemning moves we did/didn't make using speculative statements. I think everyone got carried away with the "insight" we actually have. I watch as much crappy YouTube video and read as many articles as anyone, but I don't fool myself into believing I know very much more than anyone else as a result.

I'm not saying the Sixers did an amazing job...but I'm
Not saying they didn't either. For all I know they got low balled on an Iggy deal and couldn't get one done without putting the team
In a worse position. Perhaps Vucevic is a stiff...or perhaps the many long-time basketball men who evaluated him in a real gym and met him in person know something we don't.

My point is, none of us really know, and when you make the jump fro
"I think" to "I know", your words seem petulant.

Sorry to piss anyone off. I just think we got a bid man with legit size and an under the basket game, which we needed...and a local kid who, if motivated, has a lot to offer. That's a pretty good haul in a weak draft. Nobody (including the team brass) REALLY knows how this will shake out.

I've been on this board a long time, though I don't post often. It just bums me out when what people think they know makes for contentious discussion.

see it wasnt a good talent pool in this draft...they addressed their needs with a center who they loved......and a rebounder......now they can focus on getting a scorer for iguodala and move speights too. I didnt think they did badly...

Monta talk supposedly jumped back into the equation last night....so maybe that happens...who knows.......I know they wanted Vucevic bad and wanted that 10 pick to get him..they were happy Houston didnt take him.

Let's hope so SF! That would be a tidy little offseason if it worked out...then maybe a Speights trade to get rid of that dead weight and we could go into the season with the a new vibe surrounding the squad!

Thanks, as always, for sharing what you hear!

yeah i want an iguodala trade as much as anyone....and several times apparently they were close..but the deadline wasnt last night to do it.

i think they really want speights gone.......drafting lavoy allen showed that......he may compete with brackins for spot minutes at the 4(thad will probably get most of the time there off the bench)

all they need allen to do is get rebounds off the bench...dont see a reason to give an F to the number 50 pick...what better talent was out there?

Allen's only real deficiency has been his effort comes and goes. If Doug can get him to hustle with regularity, he's a diverse guy who can help off the bench. I've always thought that about him.

Agree...I was shocked to see Allen picked @ 50, but would prefer taking him at that spot than Faried @ 16 and reach for a center @ 50. Seems GSW is in position to move Ellis with their draft, and would probably really want to move BIedrens as well.

Are there other teams that, by their drafts, may be in position to acquire Iguodala? Houston seemed to grab a ton of talent, Utah's frontcourt is now packed, Minnesota still seems to have too many young/unproven pieces, the Clippers 2nd round pick may be a piece that appeals to the Sixers in a deal as well, and Washington would seem to be in a position to completely change the culture if they could plug Igoudala in at the SG spot. Just seems there may now be more options than before the draft.

Everything that Vucevic brings seems to fit...listen to him talk and how he carries himself, all reports indicate he's a tremendous worker, he's versatile in his ability to hit 19' shots as well as use both hands inside, he rebounds...people harped on his measurables at the combine and really didn't focus on his production. I was able to watch a few USC games the past two years, and he's a player...he's not Shaq, Dwight, Kareem, etc, but he really has a nice game and just seems to fit the personality type that DC/Thorn are trying to base this team around.

i think they are looking for a scorer now that they drafted two bigs.......kevin martin, monta elllis...something like that...and will try to attach speights to deal.
