It seems like Jay Wright had a conversation with Bridges after the Columbia game and urged him to be more aggressive. It's his team now and he needs to assume the offensive workload. He's done a much better job with that over the last two games.

How would you rank the guards from this college year and the current NBA rookie guards? (excluding Simmons)

Fultz/DSJ

Mitchell/Monk
Trae Young
Sexton
Nickeil Alexander-Walker (more of a 2 probably)
Andrew Jones/Frank Jackson
Trevon Duval
De'Anthony Melton/Derrick White
Jawun Evans

Thanks for the reply, the next draft seems to be not that great in terms of guard prospects.

I think it's solid, def some starting level guys, maybe not studs, but this year's was one special Guard draft, not that common

Sexton looked much better agaisnt Alabam A&M, better burst and quicker, he looks like a player, I think he doesn't have the on-ball dominance of elite guys like Kyrie etc, but can def be a two-way PG with some tools.

He is a bit like early Kyle Lowry, maybe not as stout.

Very smart on his part if he enters the draft this year before he gets figured out. I don't know anything about him. He may be beast or he may flop but I do know it's easier to get drafted higher than you normally would if scouts don't have tape on you against college competition and they will overdraft you based on the idea of you rather than what they have seen on tape against college players.

I dread the coming years of having to scout guys off of BallisLife mixtape videos instead of having data and video from college games.

Yup look at Dante Exum. Kid literally did nothing... played no high school ball... his name popped up after an Adidas tournament here and there... suddenly he was considered a potential top 3 pick even though there was literally no footage of him other than a couple of games on the talent circuit. He was even being hyped as having "Kobe mentality"

As soon as they realised he was being talked up as a top pick his people literally shut him down so that nobody could see him play leading up to the draft. Utah got sucked in.

With big men at that age, all you want to see is that they run the floor gracefully and can catch passes while on the move, both while on the ground and in the air. If they can do those things, while having superior size, that is a rare prospect.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

True.

That’s why Embiid as a freshman was so shocking. He showed so much skill beyond just that, and he had the added burden of only playing a few years of basketball total by that time.

We desperately need a 2nd unit scorer with one of our 2nd round picks.

That's why I try to avoid watching highlights of the college guys. I like to watch top guys against good teams, with athletes, to see if their quickness, athleticism or IQ stands out against their peers.

Man getting Mikal Bridges feels like a must, local guy and he could be an extra Cov/Battier type, plus some of the Guards would slide too, I think Trent, Andrew Jones, would fit well, also Walker/Brown.

It all depends on perception, I would take Mikal top10 but if NBA teams aren't and he is likely to be available with your own pick you can take a more upsidey Guard with the Lakers pick (I guess Sexton although not sure how he mess with your foundation) and get Bridges later on.
If Ben is gonna play PG full-time you can have Mikal taking over Dario and roll something like Simmons-Fultz-Bridges-Covington-Embiid

He is a bit like Lou Will, and also Fultz, has that pull-up and athleticism type of mix, not sure about his play-making skills.

He is really bad at catching on the move actually, displayed some Kwame-esque hands in those sets, he runs fine but you can see that he is all muscle, like he aint graceful like Embiid, or other bigs, not as stiffy as MTurner was, but still, gonna put some strain on his body, he is too jacked.

Is Trae Young for real?

All the highschool highlight videos on youtube made him look like the next Steph Curry. But...he's kinda been that so far in the very small sample space.

Amazing how good a bigman coach Patrick Ewing is. If I was a 5 star C recruit, I'd be heading to Georgetown.

Deandre Ayton is the one player that I don't want the Celtics to get their hands on with that Lakers pick. I'd prefer they don't get Bagley or Porter either, but Ayton is the one that I can envision having the ceiling big enough to cause problems. It would be just our luck, that some idiot gets #1 and takes Doncic and leaves the Celtics Ayton.

For the 76ers, I'm locked in on Bruce Brown or Robert Williams. Either would likely be instant starters on this team.

That's tradition at that school, for the last 35 years, with a temporary interruption from Kansas recently.

I wouldn't mind them getting Bagley. He has no jumper and only has a 7 foot wingspan. He won't be able to protect the rim and he'll only be able to score inside the arc.

If the Celtics get their hands on Jaren Jackson, Bamba or Ayton, I'll be devastated.

It's been a while. They haven't had a 5 star C recruit since Greg Monroe in 2008. With Pat Ewing at the helm, they should re-emerge as a destination for elite bigman talent.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
