Why can’t we be a top 5 offensive team? We have too much firepower on offense

We’re already 7th in offensive rating and we’ve been steadily climbing since we got healthy. We’re easily a top 5 offensive team right now. In the past 15 games, we’re 3rd behind only Denver & Sacramento.

Problem is that we’re 16th in defensive rating during that time. Time will tell if moving Maxey to the bench creates a better defensive balance in our rotations.

Is Montrez eligible for a trade?

I have a feeling we’re pumping Montrez value as we head towards the deadline.

Sixers zone defense

2021-2022

Image

Our zone defense was better than our man to man defense last season

2022-2023
Image

Big increase in our zone defense frequency. 4th in the league

With defense turning garbage and with a lot of ISO and 2 man game, I wont be surprised if teams would run more zone defense

He's Glenn's guy, so I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Who would want to trade for Montresz anyway? lol

He signed for us, likely, because no other team was interested.

You would have to attach Trez to a bigger salary like Korkmaz to get anything meaningful. He’s on a league minimum.

Not just that, but also Harden's and Morey's guy as well. But you are right, Glen will probably make the final call here.

Harrell had his best years under Sixers head coach Doc Rivers when both were with the Los Angeles Clippers. He won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award in 2019-20 when he averaged 18.6 points on 58.0 percent shooting, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in only 27.8 minutes per game.

Sixers team president Daryl Morey originally selected Harrell with the No. 32 pick in the 2015 NBA draft back when he was with the Houston Rockets. Harrell spent his first two seasons playing alongside now-Sixers guard James Harden, although his career took off once he landed with Rivers in L.A.

Yeah. I heard in Spike’s podcast that they heard that Morey is the one who like Harrell the most

Im actually OK with Harrell but I would prefer him stepping out on screens

Playoff rotation worthy players:

1. Embiid
2. Harden
3. Maxey
4. Tobias
5. Melton
6. Niang
7. Tucker
8. ?
9. Milton

Thybulle and Harrell have piss poor playoff track records. I think we need one more F/C.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Barring injury, maybe they can get the away games win loss ratio back closer to last season & maintain or even improve the home game win loss ratio? Haven't lost an away game in January.

2021-22: 24-17 at home and 27-14 away

2022-23: 17-7 at home and 13-9 away

Wild predictions: 57-25 season.
No major injuries 8-) : 60-22 (not taking bets).

Would be really nice to have another playable wing as well and bump Niang down to the 10 spot IMO.

He's Morey's guy, too. No shot they deal Harrell. But they could bench him if they have a better option.

Highest TS% in the “clutch” (min 30 clutch FGA):

1. De’Aaron Fox: 66.4%

3. Jalen Brunson: 63.5%
4. PJ Washington: 63.3%
5. Nikola Jokic: 62.6%
6. Joel Embiid: 61.5%
7. DeMar DeRozan: 61.3%
T8. Ayton/Simons: 60.8%
10. Lauri Markkenan: 60.7%

Worst TS% in the clutch (min 30 FGA)

T1. Giannis/Garland: 41.1%
3. Booker: 41.4%
4. Westbrook: 41.7%
5. LaVine: 42.8%
6. Harden: 43.3%
T7. Rozier/FVV/Siakam: 43.5%

What I fear the most is teams denying Biid and letting Harden do his thing on clutch moments. If that happens, and Harden is struggling, maybe we can have Maxey take over.

We should have enough other options, with Tyrese, Tobias or even Niang and Shake being capable of hitting clutch shots

If they adjust to a matchup chasing offense... Which, they're well equipped to do... Instead they go with a 2 man game or Joel iso.... Which certainly aren't bad options either as Joel is a matchup nightmare. But the more versatile option against lesser defenders on Maxey and Tobi could be rewarding

I haven't written off Thybulle completely. I think we're probably going to need him for certain matchups, like when Melton is getting screened to death against perimeter stars.

For the most part he's statistically been exactly the same player he is in the regular season in the playoffs. Teams ignoring him on offense is certainly a limiting factor in how much you want him in the floor, but I don't think that's much different for a guy like Niang who is likely to get hunted relentlessly on the other end. You just have to cook things into your scheme to limit those issues when they're out there.

The great thing about the Embiid/Harden PnR is that we no longer have to spend 15 seconds trying to make a post entry pass. No matter the defense, we can get Embiid the ball at the elbow with minimal effort. That helps a lot in clutch situations.
