I don't think there's a big difference between re-breaking the bone and not healing properly....good chance both will require surgery....hopefully not, but....

yeah thats the thing.

i think some people are living in this dream world, where just because he didn't re-break the bone, means everything is gung ho.
it's almost worse that after 12 months it's still not healing properly.

my own opinion is that another surgery is inevitable, because whatever they've done to this point didn't work

I've never disagreed that Embiid has huge upside. He's extremely talented, never disagreed with that.
But as I've been proven right a hundred times again, Embiid CANNOT STAY HEALTHY. couldn't do it in high school, couldn't do it in college, couldn't get through an NBA offseason healthy. Not to mention the countless other factors playing against him as a prospect.

I said at the time, I wouldn't regret it if Embiid became a superstar with LA or Boston, if it did, that sucks but oh well.
Why do I say that? Because....He....Cant....Stay....Healthy
If by some absolute miracle he did, it would be just that- a miracle.

Hinkie gambled. As of right now, it looks like he lost, and he should have to live with the consequences.

I don't agree. Those guys are role players, and in the NBA their value isn't zero, but it's close.

Basically, the Sixers were at a bar trying to get laid. They had a pickup line that was majorly risky, but if it works it guarantees them to get laid and get laid by a girl who is a 10/10 and it would be the best sex ever in their lives. However, they could very well get rejected and walk away with nothing.

Or they could go up to some average 5/10 and not only not get laid, but just get a kiss on the cheek. For that, you might as well not even get anything.

Embiid = getting the best sex ever from the 10/10
Exum, Smart, Randle, Gordon = getting a peck on the cheek from a 5/10

Sure, the peck on the cheek isn't absolute zero, but what is the value of it really?

We don't know that about Exum, Smart, Randle (Gordon is pretty clearly a role player) It's too soon to say. Exum was pretty highly regarded going into the draft.
Exum is super young and raw. He was playing against Australian high schoolers 1 year ago today.

(and yes I admit we can't say with 100% certainly regarding Embiid either)

Ehh, I'm starting to see Embiid as that chick from (I'm gonna get you sucka) when he takes her home and she starts taking off her body parts, including her hair.

If they don't take Gordon, Exum, Randle, whomever, maybe a trade could of been made, a lot of people were really high on Exum this time last year so who knows. I would rather have someone contributing at 3 instead of nothing at all, which hopefully won't be the case for Embiid. The Sixers basically threw a season to get a top pick, for him not to play would be a disaster in my eyes, I would think Josh Harris wouldn't be thrilled either.

If he doesn't play this year, I really hope BB gets an extension I think he deserves that much.

Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj

Here is some new info from a KU coach that talked directly to Embiid.

The future didn’t seem so dire, though, in one third-hand account of the center’s situation. On Monday afternoon, Bill Self told reporters KU assistant coach Norm Roberts spoke with Embiid on the phone this past weekend and the injury-plagued big told his former college assistant “he hasn’t re-injured anything.”

“Basically, he’s been working out and everything, and the doctor told him — based on doing the MRIs or X-rays or whatever they do… even though it feels better, it doesn’t look like it’s made the progress they would hope at this stage, so they were gonna slow him down,” Self related. “But by no means, from what Jo has told us, 'slow down' does not mean major setback. It means they’re gonna give it a little bit more time to heal before they put him in stressful situations.”

The Inquirer reported Embiid hadn’t quite reached the portion of his rehab that allowed him to play five-on-five, but the Sixers had claimed his rehab process was moving along on schedule before the unexpected news release about his recovery this past weekend.

I'll just wait for Hinkie to talk to us to see what he says.

But Keith Pompey spoke with an undisclosed source, dudes. I'm not sure KU is even a real school. Bill Self sounds like a made-up name.

An undisclosed source who claimed that Hinke's plan has already failed with this Embiid news. What a ridiculous article.

Can we build around Russel? Could Noel&Saric work? To be honest, Embiid or not, we have a hell of a future. Embiid was kind of just the cherry on top lol

I'm betting he ends up having more surgery.

Would love that core to begin with. Add next years lotto and we still have a bright future.

We all know at this point that Pompey's source is either imagined or it's Billy King, right?

Hinkie's plan is to take several shots at getting a franchise changing player. Embiid is our best shot at that so far. Embiid not panning out would be a major blow to our future.

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/20150616_The_risk_and_reward_of_drafting_Joel_Embiid.html

Bob Ford with some shockingly level headed analysis about the "picking embiid was a mistake" hot takes going around.

It's fairly funny that there are people (especially these media members with no medical background) who think they had a better sense of the odds of recovery from this injury than the Sixers themselves.
