Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
Doc has done some good things in the playoffs and if they make it to the Finals he can stay. Otherwise, I'd like him out.

Glenn has learned not to let DAJ play unless Embiid is out injured. Going w/Reed as the backup instead. Good sign.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
He was forced to free Reed but next season he has to free Bassey, Joe and Springer as well...we have some nice potential for internal growth or at least they can be groomed into trade chips. This is what I hate most about Doc, the fact that he apparently doesn't like to develop young players, which ultimately bites him in the ass.

Terrible coaching last night.
Out coached both offensively and defensively against a team with Gabe Vincent and Straus in the starting 5. Team didnt even showed any energy.

The scheme is on Doc. The lack of energy in on the players (mainly Joel). Doc shouldn't have to get these guys energized to play.... it's incumbent on them to show up ready to fight.

Agree. These are professionals, and there is a big problem if they need a coach to motivate them, especially in the playoffs.
Unlike virtually everyone else on here, I don't think lack of motivation was the problem. The Sixers were sloppy right off the bat, the turnovers led to 3's, and it seemed to snowball from there. I thought the defensive scheme was a mess, and allowed too many open 3's to a team that lives on those.
Offensively, we turned the ball over too much and couldn't throw it in the ocean. We got nothing from Tobias and Maxey, Embiid was clearly not himself, and Harden was being swarmed the entire game. It was one of those "whatever can go wrong will" kind of games.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
As much as I despise Doc, I have to agree. He can't shoot, and turnover the ball, that's on players. He can't not play listless, that's on players.
As much as I love Jo, I also have to agree that he really gets down on himself when something doesn't go his way. He really wears his emotions on his sleeve, but in a way, that it sucks the life out of him. He needs to channel that into passion and anger, and go all out. It's a shame now, because, due to the injury and how he reacted, all the haters are going to latch on to that and nickname him crybiid. Unfortunate, and it'll be really annoying, but I can't blame Doc for that either.
Harden continuing to **** the bet is also not helping. Yeah atleast he had a pulse yesterday, but we needed it from everyone, including Maxey, who continues his Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde routine (understandable for a 2nd year player).

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
if he does move on...the next guy needs to be a guy who actually gameplans
Doc is mainly here as a guy who keeps the team together type (not sure he's great at it lol) and most of the actual systems come from his staff
we need a guy who can scheme up easy points for our players so its not always just "hey go make a play"
BUT like Tobias...Doc was fine this postseason overall sans a few weird Doc-isms

This guy is definitely gone now thats the only silver lining. Lets be bold and throw a boat load of money at Jay Wright. The guy is an amazing coach and players love him he'll do well in the NBA.

Eh, it's pretty darned rare for great college coaches to become great pro coaches. Brad Stevens is quite exceptional.

Jay doesn’t feel like a “yell at the kids” kind of coach. He feels more like an NBA coach than most college coaches.

Just get anyone else in here. We're going nowhere w/this guy.
Unfortunately, ain't happening because Josh Harris is too cheap.

He was just trying to buy the Denver Broncos and Chelsea Football Club. He has unlimited wealth.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
The next coach needs to be much less rigid in terms of rotations and lineups. 2 big lineups, 2 PG lineups, giving young guys more rope. I'd like someone from the G-league who's tried some weird stuff but with a little more empathy than that a-hole the Pacers hired a couple years back. Or someone from college but it seems like most of them are control freaks who cannot adapt to ceding any control to a roster of professional athletes.
