Pretty accurate description of 10 year NBA vet Seth Curry. Totally not an NBA player tho.

McCain will get back to form and will wrack up enough assists that some team hungry for a shooting PG, and there are a lot of PG depleted teams this year, will want him. The most critical part of this season is getting McCain back to balling then moving him to another team for assets on the wing or used to get a wing and hoping against hope that Embiid or Paul George will get on a hot enough streak that someone is willing to trade for them.

Maxey and VJ are the core, maybe Grimes if he realizes he is a high end role player by next summer and not a star. Build around those two and take advantage of any other players who show value to use to build the team out. McCain has a place in the league with this shooting and creation, but isn't a long term fit with Maxey as your superstar.

He was very hesitant to do anything in his first game back. Not sure if it's because of first game jitters or he doesn't quite trust the thumb yet, but last year he'd pull the trigger with no hesitation. Still wearing a wrap on his hand for the thumb.

I'm not anti-McCain, but it's hard to envision a scenario where we have Maxey, Grimes, McCain, and Edgecombe all on long-term contracts. Someone will eventually be the odd man out.

Maxey and Edgecombe won't be going anywhere anytime soon (I hope).
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

cross that bridge when you get to it. Good chance Grimes is gone imo and if not great. Having four good-great guards isn't a bad "problem" to have especially since Grimes and VJ can play up to the 3 in small doses too. McCain is 3 years away from needing to be paid (VJ 4) **** happens in that timeframe...perhaps Maxey gets tired of our bull and wants out lol for example.

Agreed, not saying we have to act now, but I can't imagine having Maxey, Grimes, and McCain all on long-term contracts. So after summer 2027 I guess.

Statistically it can be argued that Seth Curry is the best three-point shooter of all time, but he's bounced around the league, never being more than an end-of-bench player except for a couple of years in Philly. He got roasted badly on defence in Philly, and should not have been on the court. He's surname is the reason he has lasted in the league.

So very best case, Jared McCain, becomes the best three-point shooter in the history of the game, but is almost unplayable and averages 10 points per game, while being a liability on the court. Yep - great comparison.

More likely, he got overhyped on here with a shooting streak that lasted a short time, and he will end up the player most people thought he would be - a big reach in the first round of a weak draft.

He's basically a rookie and hasnt played an actual game in nearly 1 year.

Can't believe he looked rusty and out of rythm.

I’m not that high on McCain. The guard talent across the league is stacked, and I never really bought into the “Steph Curry relocation” comparisons. It’s so deep that even a team like the Bucks could move on from Lillard and plug in someone like Rollins without missing too much. I’ll enjoy watching McCain and appreciate the guard depth we have, but it’s tough to see him as part of our long-term core.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

So we’ve already gone from not an NBA player to him averaging 10 ppg. You’ve gotta stop bargaining with yourself, man. By next week Jared McCain will be in the HOF at this rate.

You've made a goose of yourself here. Re-read what I wrote.

I said very best case he becomes statistically the best shooter in NBA history, which would still only make him a low level role player, but more likely he will be out of the league.

Oh I read it right - I’m just treating this convo with the trollishness it deserves. This exchange started by you quoting a post where I said “I’m excited to watch Jared McCain play” so you could find it in a couple of years to call me an idiot.

I'm just mad he wasted this game 7 of the finals type fit on that anti-climactic debut

Image

besides that I'm not concerned. he was trying to find his rhythm in an already charging machine and passing up looks for Maxey/Embiid/Grimes

they'll figure it out and his skillset is very much needed

Like Samson, I think his real issue was cutting his hair. He looks 10 years older.

Always amazes me that people on the internet just can't say they got something wrong, but have to double down with a post that lacks logic.

He mentioned that heavy leg brace bothering him when he played, he looked noticebly slower. I was hoping he could be the backup PG and we could cut some of Maxeys mins but right now he may need to knock some of the rust before hes placed in that role.

Just let him get up and down with some spot up 3s for a few mins.
