and Wiggins, Embiid, Exum, and Vonleh are off the board....I assume we take Randle as BPA
Or you can cross your fingers and take a major reach hoping to hit a home run in Aaron Gordon. I personally would take Randle but Gordon is probably the Highest Upside Available.
This would be my logic as well....although I think there are legit arguments to be made for both Randle/Gordon.
Id still probably go with Randle....hes def got some developing to do(all the top guys do imo) in terms of learning the game and how to use his strengths to his advantage, but if he ever figured it out and refined his jumper he'd be an absolute nightmare for defenses. He should be able to rebound, score and get to the line at a pretty good clip pretty early on.
Gordon has a lot of developing too do, especially with position and his shooting. Randle is a straight up power forward, but Gordon somehow still thinks he can be a 3....He would be best suited to be groomed as an athletic PF where his handle, speed and athleticism are much bigger advantages. His defense was outstanding and impressive for a freshman, so his upside is also pretty damn high considering he could develop into a 2 way player.
Id be pretty bummed if we lost out on Wiggins/Embiid.....but if these guys are our "Worst Case" scenarios, i think our futures bright regardless...I have faith in Brown and his staff getting the best out of whoever we select.
