I haven't heard much out of BB on Simmons but he probably has as good a read on Ben as anyone. I'm cool with Ben coming to PHI. He definitely looks ready to compete in the NBA and we're going to play fast. Good ****!

BTW, I listened to an interview with Howard Eskin and DBodner. I'm not local so I don't hear much Eskin but he was kind of down on Simmons and preferred Ingram. It sounded like what I've been worrying about since we got the #1 pick. I found myself in a bad place, marooned on Eskin Island! I was surely wrong.

Lol, I'm not a local either but from what I can gather from limited exposure, Eskin Island could be a pretty frightening place.

Like Embiid said, the Sixers almost got Lebron a couple years ago. This time, Simmons will be the one who puts it over the top.

Klutch Sports Group / LeBron
Jerry Colangelo
Nike
Adam Silver / League Office

There are some powerful people with investment interests in Philadelphia basketball right now.

Plus we have the Jerry World of basketball headquarters being built, as we speak.

We might be an influential powerhouse location / franchise by the time the 2020s arrive.

Good stuff.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/cavs-lebron-james-raves-about-ben-simmons-says-hes-his-mentor/

Potential No. 1 pick Ben Simmons has been working out in Cleveland in advance of the NBA Draft, and he shares an agent, Rich Paul, with the city's biggest star. On Saturday, just five days before the draft, LeBron James gave Simmons a pretty nice endorsement.
"Well, I think he's a great young talent," James said. "I think the way he displays on the basketball court, we all notice. I think we all don't know just yet how great of a kid he is and how down to earth he is with the game of basketball and life in general. I had an opportunity to spend a lot of time over the last couple years with him and his family. They're just so very appreciative of the opportunity that they've been given as a family. Also, they give everything to their son. They want the best for him. And as a mentor to him and big brother to him, I also give him a lot of advice on what to expect when he makes his jump next week, how to handle it. But he also has to figure it out on his own as well because everybody's path is different."
James added that the forward out of LSU has "all the tools," so he can be as good as he wants to be. He did not, however, indulge the reporter who asked James if the Philadelphia 76ers would be crazy to pass up on Simmons with the first pick.
"I'm not a GM," James said. "I don't get paid by the Sixers. So I'm not going to answer that."

This is so funny. The 76ers may end up with Ben Simmons and LeBron James -- all Josh Harris had to do was crucify Sam Hinkie. For his obedience, the NBA fixed the draft for us and the referees stole the finals from Steph Curry so LeBron could deliver his title to CLE and then come to Philly for his last superteam where he can mentor his protégé and return championship basketball to the East Coast.

Sam was really freaking smart!
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Yeah, I should use green font. Big game tonight! If Lebron wins, I can see him leaving CLE just to spite Dan Gilbert... I can see CLE back in the Lottery almost immediately. Gilbert could hire Sam Hinkie to sell off Kyrie and Love...

I can't wait for Thursday... Totally stoked!

Unless you know him personally these all sound like baseless claims. I've also noticed that in all this there isn't any dissecting of Ingams weaknesses and flaws. What exactly did Ingram do or accomplish that suddenly he'sa much better prospect?

.

Most of it comes from a series of articles or tweets from renowned psychologist Jonathon Givony p.h.d.

Ive followed Ben since he was 15, so therefore Im aware of Givony' long held thoughts on him. Now going back to when Exum and Simmons were first starting to make waves Givony' opinion was that Exum was by far the better talent, a view not held by most in Australia. Which is fine, he's allowed that pov no matter how wrong.

It was pretty clear from early into Bens junior year at Montverde he was the number #1 in that class, from memory it took along time for DX to put him above Jaylen Brown as the #1 pick of 2015, and then he didnt hold it long. All it took was for Skal Labissiere to hit a few jumpers over Thon Maker at hoops summit to move him to the top spot and have Givony and Evan Daniels gushing over how apparent it is that Skal is easily the best prospect. Again, its an opinion to which one is justified, no matter how laughable in hindsight.

When the college season was a couple of months old and it was clear Skal was hopeless and Simmons was a stud a few NBA scouts commented on how ridiculous Skal was still #1 on mock-drafts i.e. DX as its the most popular or how he was even #1 in the first place. Givony had a bit of a melt-down on twitter and from that point on his articles on Simmons took a weird, and frankly, unprofessional turn.

Every bad decision or act was highlighted with a trace of smugness or satisfaction, while all the good stuff was overlooked. When it was clear LSU was doomed he started assasinating his character and even stating his Aussie team-mates didnt think much of him (denied by every-one). All this just becasue a 19 year-old had the temerity to prove him very wrong.

You can also throw in the fact he signed with klutch sports, while Givony is now a lackey of Woj, has made things even more interesting.

PS. There is a belief that Rich Paul is directing Simmons on what he will do. Bens sister works for Klutch and is married to former NFL running back Michael Bush, so theyll make sure Klutch do what is in Bens best interests.

Rant over lol.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

He's not PF level in terms of challenging shots. And he's been consistently low level/volume with it since HS. I'll put it this way, Jah has almost twice the number of blocks than Simmons have in college with almost the same number of TRB%.

I like him to be SF on defense where he seems to have elite length and quickness (hand and footspeed) to stay in front of his man and get deflections (steals).

Well jah played pretty much exclusively at center in college so you expect the blocks to be higher. Also, between noel, embiid and grant i am less than worried about his ability to challenge at the rim.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Simmons's trb was more than 10% higher, his DRB was ridiculously higher.

He's a power forward on defense right now.

Yup, 10% more but less than 2% difference 18.2% vs 16.6%.
