i think i've watched fultz more than anyone on this board, and i believe he's the top prospect in this draft. i saw how bad the huskies were, night in night out, especially on the defensive side. no real second option on that team. what impressed me was that he was still able to attack the basket with very little spacing. he created for himself, scored against 2-3 defenders. what he did as a freshman was very impressive especially with what he had to work with out there.

fultz is the safest at the top.. he can do everything on offense including creating his own offense, something ball can't do at all.. I want no part in a guy that cant create his own shot
I'd even be ok with fox at 3 at this point

I can respect that. I even recall you posting during the games. I don't agree with your assessment, but at least it's an informed opinion.
I bet there isn't 10 guys on this board that watched even half of a Huskies game this year. This, especially for the guys that live on the East coast, yet so many are sure that Fultz is the top player.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Personally tho I don't think Rudy Gay is a bad player. He is still super talented, who knows what better coaching and a winning environment could have done for him. Still I like other guys more than him. Not about taking another forward tho. Jackson's "potential" to play the 2 is one of the reasons I like him so much. Cov can't play the 2 no matter what people say IMO.
On offense he wouldn't play the 2.
Offense:
Guards - Simmons and X
Forwards - Covington and Tatum
Covington is similar to Danny Green. Green doesn't play the 2 on offense either.

That makes sense on paper. Not a fan of playing guys out of position tho

I'm almost positive I'm the only person here who saw Fultz in person. Seeing him in person hurt my impression of him. His defense is a real issue. DSJ and Ball at least tried to play defense intermittently, but Fultz was a paper bag except for a couple chase down blocks. I don't know if it's from the losing or if he just doesn't care or whatever, but either way it really worries me. Not everyone figures out how to fulfill their defensive potential. I expect teams to really challenge him defensively during his workouts. He needs to at least double the amount of effort he's exerting on that end.

It's not out of position though. And by position, I mean role on the court. What was Covington asked to do last season? And what would be different about what he would be asked to do in a lineup with Simmons, another guard, and a SF?

Tatum is definitely more of a 3-4, while Jackson is a 2-3. Isaac looks more like a tall 3 until he puts on some muscle to handle the 4 spot, but seems to ahve the foot speed to play the 3 well and switch on D as needed.

I could begin to buy this concern about Covington if someone could actually explain to me the difference in his offensive role between playing the 3 with 2 traditional guards out there versus playing the 2 with a traditional guard and Simmons out there. In both scenarios he's being asked to be the 3rd ball handler/stand on the 3 point line and stretch the floor.
It's not like he's a 2nd baseman and you're switching him to shortstop. Obviously there he is playing at a different spot on the field. But this is like saying his is switching to shortstop but still playing him where you would normally play a 2nd baseman. If he's doing the same thing regardless, does the position you are calling him really matter?

Huh? More ball handlers is never a bad thing.

Wings are offensively interchangeable for the most part nowadays. And we know he can chase littler guys around effectively on defense. So Cov would be fine if he was the "2".

Who knows what you consider a "ball handler" to be. Can you give an instance where a team had two point forwards in the starting lineup the entire season and won a championship? I can point to when the Sixers had two point forwards in Iguodala and Turner and the team didn't do well.

As long as you have a bunch of ball handlers who are unselfish, it's always a good thing. Having multiple players that can create their own shot is hell on a defense. One ballhandler and a bunch of 3-D guys, makes you the '17 Celtics. You're not winning anything like that.

Iguodala and Josh Jackson creating their own shot.

Uh oh. Josh Jackson might not even be an option lol. Are you happy Negrodamus? Lol. Are all of you anti-Jackson fans happy now?
