There's no way that Brown and Tatum's expected value this season exceeds Snell and Brogdon's. Snell and Brogdon are both positive players and there's a good chance that neither Brown nor Tatum will be in 2017-18.

Good question. We're not really great in backcourt D, but Embiid and Covington will help a lot.
But I should worry more about Celtics D than Sixers' D.
Don't see good defenders in any position there. Smart and Brown are only good defenders in Celtics' eyes. Stats tell otherwise.

I really think Ben should provide better impact on D, specially without Biid. It's an area where he has great potential.

Snell makes stupid money though more then Brown and Tatum combined. No thanks on Snell. Doesn't do enough to justify 12 million

What does that have to do with the argument?

Ben should be capable of being a good defender. I hope he takes proud in it.

I have often referred to Ben Simmons as the next Magic Johnson.
Before I do so again, I'd like to see Ben recognize when he's well defended faster and make simpler passes.
Going up against Embiid in practice should help that a lot.
We also need the other players also to recognize it and cut to open spaces while defenders peek in contemplating help--which they are already doing.
His inside passes to cutters are sublime. However, I'd also like to see him recognize open three point shooters.
Again, others have to cut to open spaces as the defense collapse.
Can't lie, was hoping those things would be a tad more innate. No reason why it won't develop.
Despite the spacing limitations, I like TJ out there with Ben sometimes. Even though Ben can't shoot, can his man really afford to leave him?
Imagine Joel Embiid on the end of Ben's passes!
Joel said they haven't even worked on offense yet. That they have to be the best defensive team in the league, first.
I support that.
I do not support having Justin Anderson. Even less considering we already had Jerami Grant.
Jerami was always a player who was going to do more when asked to do less. And he has.
All that isolation-Jerami crap was garbage when we were tanking.
But now, Jerami can hit a corner three, or pump fake and get all the way to the rim.
Anderson had a great game statistically last night. And I still don't like his game.
Catch and shoot is fine. But I think he's even worse than Jerami off the dribble. When he's stuck, I don't understand why dudes don't sprint to take the ball from him. Literally, hand the ball off.
Broken record: Justin Anderson is a much better Solomon Hill than Dante Cunningham. There's a deal with NOP.
Korkmaz is crafty. If there's garbage minutes to get, I want Furkan getting them, not Anderson.
Jazz have no minutes for Dante Exum. Donovan Mitchell and Alec Burks, second unit.
Marquese Chriss at the five. TJ Warren and Josh Jackson forward.
Dejounte Murray starting over Patty Mills. If we had Dejounte Murray and Furkan Korkmaz. Sigh.
SkinnyBoyz finally making their debut? Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb?
Love me some TJ Leaf. No Elfrid Payton, no Westbrook. Oladipo is going to put in some nice work.
I like Derrick Rose 3.0. Jae Crowder and Isaiah Thomas. Plus Dwade. Let's see.
Like Jahlil Okafor, is Stanley Johnson finally ready for the speed of the NBA game? Henry Ellenson's on his way.

Fulz should be free to take a game off ...

But embiid needs at least 50 games and no season ending injury to be a success.

You guys need to start building a winning season. This season.

First of all: Fultz with a t.

Second, while I agree with your sentiment that Fultz shouldn't get ragged on for missing a worthless preseason game, the difference between a fractured/healing navicular is a different conversation than a sprained shoulder, or whatever is hurting him.

Let’s not forget that Fultz doesn’t make the decision to play or not play.

Fine then what about Morris and Baynes

Brown and Tatum are going to be solid bench players
Bet with Stillwater Celtics will finish 6th or higher in ECF Standings Regular Season(17-18). [WON]

Kyrie is a great player but IT killed us last year. McConnell is a very good defender, as is Bayless and Covington will cover Hayward.

Simmons will cover trash..lol.

Crowder isn’t a “great” defender and we also got an improvement from IT to Kyrie on defense

Celtics is good. Nobody's gonna deny that. Other than that, its subjective and a lot of guesswork IMO.

Yeah but saying the sixers are going to win 3/4 games was silly. I think you guys and us will run the East for the next decade but you guys aren’t there yet because the sizers are so young

Hayward is above average so is Horford Smart is a great defender Brown is average Morris is above avg. Baynes value comes from his defense Tatum will struggle on D just like Simmons and Fultz
I think we are longer from last year
Going from IT and Bradley to Kyrie and Brown was great in terms of Height and length
In addition while Bradley was a good man to man defender he was terrible at help D

So I think we will be average in terms of defense with a top 5 offense

Boston needs to make an in-season trade for someone like Dewayne Dedmon, at some point.

I look at Baynes as a fine lane presence because he's big, smart and physical. I just don't think he'll alter shots or protect the rim. Which is an area where Horford struggles, as well.

What they needed was to trade for Noel when they had the chance.

Boston is a lopsided team right now, and an athletic rim protector would make them much better.

Celtics @ Sixers - Preseason Game 2

Post#457 » by Ericb5 » Sat Oct 7, 2017 2:46 pm

The Sixers and the Celtics can become a great rivalry again, but I’m more focused on just developing our big 3 and becoming a legitimate playoff team.

If that happens this year, then perhaps we become rivals with the Celtics next year.

It would be fun to make the playoffs as a 7 seed and play them in the first round. I can tell you that nobody in the league wants to play a 7 game series against Embiid. He is the great equalizer, and against the Celtics he would have a bigger than normal advantage.

Still, I don’t expect the Sixers to be a winning team out of the gate this year. We have a long way to go.

As of now, I prefer to start Fultz. That said, I think Jerryd Bayless is making a good case that he should start next to Redick in our backcourt.

Simmons will jack up his assist numbers with those two on the court together.

I agree with you but ainge does not seem to like nerlens type of player. ( Danny gets what he want ) he has the assets considering what Noel was traded for if he want him , he would have gotten him last year.
