if his shot can fall at the league average from 3 his rookie season, he's going to be a contributor for us.

He has a motor and defends....which is something guys like TLC/Korkmaz have not been able to do, and his level of explosive athleticism is something we have not seen on the floor with Simmons. In a more open NBA setting and in our "pace and space" free flowing system, Smith could seriously explode. Its a big reason why I was so high on the kid throughout the pre draft process.

Simmons should be great with Zhaire, the defense and transition finishing should be exciting.

Sure the shooting could be questionable, but everything else fits perfectly. Both are sprinters that always seem to be under control, they let things come to them.

Yup. He should be getting some wide open looks playing with Embiid/Simmons/Saric/Fultz. If he can knock them down at an avg %, the rest of his game should translate and make him a valuable role player initially.

Hoping he can develop into Tony Allen with a jumper - which obviously would be a pretty awesome role player.

I'm damned excited to see both Fultz and Smith, they can really take this team to another level in time. We need more guys able to finish athletically on the break and in the halfcourt other than the guys handling the ball full time. Given our array of great and good passers the number of lobs and similar plays last year seemed incredibly low, especially when Richaun didn't play.

Yea we really didn't have anyone that could finish around the rim outside of Embiid/Simmons. Smith and a rejuvenated, healthy Fultz could really change that.

I had a post showing several sets the Spurs used to run when the acquired Richard Jefferson that resulted in lobs/oops for him in the half-court. Hoping Brown runs similar wrinkles here with Smith.

Was watching Kawhi highlights and the similarity I see that Zhaire can replicate to his game.

Defensively, combination of lock down D and ability to fly out of nowhere to block shots.

Offensively, be a great shooter while ability to rise up and shoot over defenders. And when defenders stay close, both can attack downhill because of explosiveness.

Both guys doesnt have advanced dribbling, but being a shooter, shoot over defender and explosiveness makes them potentially tough to defend.

One of the biggest advantages for Smith is that he can ease is his way into the NBA.

When that C&S three is falling he can focus on being efficient on really low usage (mainly open shots, transition and cutting) and defense from the bench.

From there on out he can slowly add stuff he develops throughout the years. Similar to OG Anunoby for example.

Why would expect his ball handling to be any better than it was in college though? If he is going to improve in that area it is going to take time.

Nobody is as bad as Covington handling the ball.

Looks like he's playing small-forward tonight. Can't wait to see how he performs. His athleticism and speed is off the charts and I'm just hoping the Gods will bless us and let this kid have a "Tatum" like rise for us this season.

I think/hope Smith shows more than we expect from him. I expect him to play good defense, rebound and shoot the 3. I'm guessing/hoping he shows a pull up jumper and a more mature game. If Brett Brown loved him, I think his game is more expansive than we are giving him credit for.

Kid just needs to focus on playing defense, getting out in transition, and making his FT’s. If he also hits some open 3’s to keep defenses honest, then it will be a successful rookie year.

You don't need blessings for that. Do the necessary homework on your draft picks and you'll get the results.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Who do you guys think will start at the off guard? Reddick? Fultz or Smith?
