Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I don't see Ben being the albatross contract yall are worrying about.
If a godfather deal comes across your table then yeah go for it. But trading him because you are worried about years out doesn't have the high upside to me. His money cannot go to anyone else and so all trading him now does is save the owners money and who gives a **** about that. Ben will improve...even if just slightly and will be movable if it comes to that. IMO what ever package you can get for him right now you can probalbly get a year from now. He's going to have that allure of "i can fix him" for a while and probably through his next contract IMO. **** even he never improves his jumper ever, some team will believe that surrounding him w/ shooters will be good enough. All it take is one team and barring injury or off court ****, Ben will appeal to someone. He's not Josh Jackson or Fultz.
So I am not worried about his contract. I worry about his fit but I am willing to wait and see how he progresses..at least one more summer.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I mean, there are obvious benefits to trading a $8m player as opposed to a guy getting paid $25m+. Plus, if we think our Embiid health window is a real thing with like 2-4 years before it closes, it makes sense to maximize our fit immediately.

Just an FYI but Simmons has announced on a Twitter video that he’ll be suiting up for the Boomers this off-season.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I'm afraid to lose Ben the defender, rebounder, and passer. I'm not afraid to lose Ben the half court scorer and jump shooter.
When the only viable alternatives are Devin Booker and Anthony Davis, I'm not sure it's worth trading him. Tough call IMO.

2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

As an Australian fan I am happy... as a 76ers fan I am gutted. I was hoping this off-season he would hire a Drew Hanlen type and a hypnotist to delete his shooting motion entirely from his brain and teach him to shoot again properly from scratch. That won't be happening now if he is in world cup training camps and playing scrimmages

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Didn't Dennis Scott say publically that he's gonna be working with Ben on his shot this summer? So I would hope that that's still the plan. He said In his exit interview that he WILL have a better shot next season and it will improve with reps. But if he doesn't switch shooting hands then I see no progress being made tbh. Surely these playoffs made him sit and think about his game and longterm future? Can he really be so naive to think that the shot action he has now is just gonna magically improve? Smh. His shot is bad because he's shooting with his less dominant hand and releases the ball by twisting with his palm whilst his elbow is also In the wrong position. So no amount of reps are gonna improve that shot If he retains those same mechanics.

On the other hand putting him in a locker room with the likes of Ingles and Dellavedova who are renowned for their hard work and dedication to get every ounce of ability out of their bodies could be a good thing. All the Aussies playing in the NBA including Bolden have now committed to the World Cup.

He’s been working on his shot, this is 3 years ago, it’s up to him to decide how good he wants to be. If he can get a max w/o a shot, maybe he doesn’t really care.

This proves it, he doesn't want it enough, no urgency to improve his shot, because he is getting dat shiny max anyways. Trade him.

Lol
Do you seriously think that he is going without the Sixers approval?

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Sixers been way too soft on Simmons, he’s like a spoilt brat kicking and pushing **** in the supermarket aisle, and the mum just scratches her head and says: “what shall I do with this kid?” Spank the hell out of that kid!
With Simmons, slap that douchey grin off his face and make him shoot the damn ball!

Does anyone know Australia's schedule? That should give us an idea of how long he'll be with them.

3-4 weeks from late August to mid September
Btw, he has also dumped his Kardashian
He will be by far the fittest Sixer next year

That’s some good news.

Prior to the playoffs to concentrate on basketball allegedly
He is a 22yo millionaire with no real world experience and still sorting stuff out
Notice how nobody mentions Joel’s Instagram gf?
I would be doing the same thing

Yeah I've noticed her. Maybe she's why Embiid is so run down

Do people really think that he doesn't work on it? Everybody near him praises his work ethic...
My guess is that the development plan is wrong. Anybody can see that his form minimizes every margin of error, but somehow the Sixers either think that it's not a problem, or they have different reasons for not changing it (medical issues for example).

I do think he works on it and that's what makes it even worse. This is the result of his hard work.

He barely works on it, of course you will see some videos of him working a bit on his shot, but outside of that, not much. Teammates praising his work ethic is standard friendship bias, supporting your friend is human nature even when having to lie.
