Totally agree. I thought it was hilarious that some guys were quoting advanced stats for Summer League games. If that isn't the height of overvaluing analytics, I don't know what is.

Get this Lloyd dude outta here lol, Monroe doesnt even have 1/5 of Okafors offensive game. They both bad defenders, Okafor only had 1 year though. Lots of fans on here dislike big men scoring on Isos, would prefer airhead alley catchers with no offensive skillsets...very weird days on this board lately

You can go first.

Yep. That's exactly what a good analysis is. He addresses from different angles and perspectives. He backs it up with play and data. Point blank, Okafor right now is a elite scorer but a bad one for an offense (meaning a lot of his scoring comes from iso's or plays that stop the flow). That is easily fixed and rebounding might be too if he puts the effort and corrects his boxing out (he has the tools to hold off players but he's too late to react). All hinges on him becoming average on defense and that is what I mostly low on. His effort (correctable), awareness, positioning, ability to recover and help are all abysmal. That's a lot to overcome and that type of change on player's of his mold is very rare.

That was a deep dive? All he did was give team based stats for a few incarnations of him on the floor or not. We all know that those stats show him in a bad light.

There was nothing new here.

Really? That's all he did? Wow, you really go to blind mode when it comes to Okafor. He always backed up his statements with gameplay, stats and other data. He isn't saying Okafor is a lost cause, he's far from it. He's just stating what Okafor is right now for most part.

It wasn't anything necessarily new to us who have seen most of those statistics before but he did more than just give team based stats. He provided clips. He did go into more details about the stats.

I don't think you followed the entire thread.

Some of the GIFs of Jahlil's "effort" on D were straight-up appalling. Brett should've benched Jah.

Ugh, I feel even worse about his prospects now. No wonder Danny didn't want to give anything up for him.

I don't feel worse or better after reading those tweets. I wasn't shocked by anything I saw because I saw it during the season. What it tells me is that with more talent on the team that Brett Brown can easily tell Okafor if he doesn't give effort and doesn't rebound or play defense he will be benched. We already have Noel and Embiid who will do those things. Yes he should have been benched last year when he showed no effort as well but now that we have more talent it's easier to tell Okafor give effort or be benched. Tape don't lie. When they watched film last year I wonder if Okafor was embarrassed watching his effort. He had to have been. Hopefully he comes in this year ready to play. I think he seems ready and is pumped to prove his doubters wrong.

Also someone needs to tag Okafor in those tweets   . Who will be the brave soul to tag Okafor? And when you tag him ask what he thinks about this and if he's embarrassed lol. And while you're at it tag his dad too  You know his dad would be hot and might say something. Go ahead and tag them mksp.

I would trade him straight up for Marcus Smart at this point.

His screens being highlighted like that did stand out. Pretty rough.

You are absolutely right because I didn't see any gif's. I just saw the plus minus numbers that he posted.

Other than ETdagawd I don't see anyone saying that he is a superstar in the making.

What jumps out at me from watching those gif's is that he is unsure what to do. That is what I always see with him on defense. He doesn't know if he is supposed to follow the person that he is defending to the top of the key, or stay under the basket. He is slow to react, and he isn't explosive enough like Noel to make up for the poor recognition with athleticism.

He looks bad in these clips, but I will be much more concerned if he looks like this on defense at the end of his third year. Most naysayers think that he is what he is, and I think that he needs major coaching, and will improve.

I feel like you're not appreciating the utter lack of effort he showed. It's beyond being unsure, it's not caring.

This has been a consistent issue with him his entire career, why do we think it will improve?
