I believe you said the exact same words, when we got Okafor instead of Russell.

Pretty sure he was team Wiggins, too.

No. Worse. He threw a tantrum because they took Embiid over Exum.

Do you really believe that? What report are you referring to?

After those reports came out, a week later a couple insiders said Hinkie wanted to do it, but JC said no, enough dealing for future assets, can't keep giving away known assets for future assets and kick the can down the road every year.

I pay attention to these types of things as much as anyone, and I don't remember anything about Jerry over ruling Hinkie on this.

It was more like a blurb. Forget where I saw it, but it was not a major report or anything. Zach Lowe either mentioned it briefly or something like that. The initial reports were that Hinkie didn't want to do it, but a couple weeks later someone put out a blurb that Hinkie did want to do it, but didn't get the blessing of JC because they wouldn't approve again of sacrificing current assets for future assets.

All rumors always favor Hinkie which makes me believe the rumors are lies.

I'm fascinated that someone who is always so spectacularly wrong and constantly shows he doesn't know what he's talking about, can still confidently make these declarations about draft prospects.

So... how long is Brett going to ruin the development of the franchise player (Embiid) to accommodate a mediocre player (Okafor)?

Just long enough to add Fultz next year.

when Embiid inevitably breaks something again and has his Oden-esque ending to his career, please make sure to come to back and chat with me.
because a guy who can't stay healthy in high school, college, and misses the first 2 seasons of his career, sure seems like a safe bet to stay healthy

If Embiid does get hurt again then it was still the right pick. Look at what we are witnessing. Embiid can take us to heights only a few players can and the risk is worth the reward. Had we drafted Gordon or Exum or Smart would do nothing for us in the big picture. Yeah they would have healthier careers but so what? They have played 2 years. They have never reached the height of Embiid or had the impact Embiid had. They are nice players but are just role players for stars. So yeah if Embiid breaks his foot again and misses the season then it was still the right pick.

Is he really ruining the development of Embiid?

Embiid seems like he's doing pretty damn good. He's dominating on both ends of the floor and is the clear cut #1 rookie in the NBA by a mile, playing on a minutes restriction still.

I get what your saying, but when the team lacks talent....sometimes you simply have to try and get weird to get your best players on the floor.

If anyone is ruining player development, its the GM's. They are the ones drafting players that do not belong on the floor together and surrounding them with low level D-league signings and FA's.

As of now, do you think Embiid is deserving of being in the all star game?

He has minutes restriction, missed games and poor team record as things going against him. He has competition from Drummond, Whiteside and Howard, but to me only Whiteside is in the conversation with Embiid in the East.
He has Anthony Davis level stats going for him.

He gets my vote for the all star game, but I'm biased.

every sixers fan will be called biased to vote embiid in the allstar game. but even on an objetive standpoint, he deserves it.

per 48 mins rankings:

blk: #1
pts: #7
3p%: #10
fta: #7

already one of the best defensive anchors if not the best. yeah, im embiid-drunk, but so should every single nba-fan :D
