Laugh when your garbage team is relevant again.

Funniest part is NY has two franchises for every sport and still aren't racking up titles. Absolute embarrassment.

So the Cardinals name Gannon as their next head coach. Thank God. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!

They need to replace the ST coordinator, too.

Agreed 100%. Special teams was an important but often overlooked issue with this team all season because the offense and defense were both generally good enough to cover up for it. It came back to bite them when it mattered most.

BTW Steichen also became head coach of the Colts. The current QB coach Brian Williams is his likely replacement since he and Hurts apparently have a great relationship.

For DC, I think rather than promote someone internally, they should go outside the org and hire someone with experience like Lovie Smith, Vic Fangio (I know he is apparently ready to become DC of the Dolphins but it's not yet official as of me typing this), or John Pagano who coached with Sirianni when they were both in San Diego.

I'm still a bit in shock that the Eagles got arguably the best player in the draft in Jalen Carter. If he can keep a good head on his shoulders, he'll anchor a dominant D line for years to come.

Hopefully he can pressure Mahomes if it comes to that again.

After two decades of trying to be the smartest guys in the room every draft and reaching for projects, Roseman finally started drafting studs who produced in college, and the results have spoken for themselves. They got a guy who might end up being the best player in this draft.

Howie gets another steal with Nolan Smith at #30. Among Davis, Dean, Carter, and Smith, we're gonna have to rename the Eagles the Philly Bulldogs or Georgia North.

I know everyone is loving the Smith pick but I don't know. There's just not that much production and he's small. If our offense is as explosive as we should be he's on the right team to play a bunch of pass rushing snaps when game script requires the other team to throw so I think he got drafted by the right type of team but I'm not thinking he was a steal or anything.

Carter on the other hand is a monster. Falling to 9 would have never happened unless for his off field incident. Whether that is a one-off or that poor decision making is a character trait remains to be seen.

Smith was projected as a teens/early 20s pick. Some even projected the Eagles to take him at #10. I think the main reason he fell to #30 was because of the pectoral injury he suffered. Remember he played on a Georgia defense that was absolutely stacked so naturally his numbers aren't going to stand out as much as they would have on a lesser team.

As far as his size goes, yeah, it isn't ideal for an edge rusher but remember Haason Reddick is also small for an edge rusher and it didn't stop him from being an absolute monster last season. Brandon Graham isn't the biggest pass rusher either but he's still with the Eagles after 13 seasons.

As far as Carter goes, the only thing that can stop him from being a dominant force on the interior D line is himself. Fortunately given the fact that he's playing with his college teammates in Davis, Dean, and Smith as well as the Eagles culture of no-nonsense, I think he couldn't have asked for a better environment to be successful.

Smith is a really good player, but I'm not a fan of picking defensive players in the 1st round who aren't 3-down guys. Smith projects as a pass rushing specialist, but we'll see. My guess is that Roseman was looking to trade back and had no takers.

I was hoping for Carter for the Bears but he's probably more likely to reach his potential with the Eagles.

I understand your concern. I think they drafted him to learn under and eventually replace Reddick as our starting edge rusher. Reddick will be 29 at the start of the season and unless he agrees to restructure his deal, I can see him leaving in 2-3 years.

Really the Eagles are largely set at all of the high value positions (QB, WR, CB, O and D line) for at least one more season. The rest (RB, LB and safety, although they did draft a safety in the third round tonight) are lower value positions that are more easily replaceable in the later rounds of the draft and free agency.

They also took the OT from Alabama who they'll likely redshirt for one season in the third round.

Eagles trade up for another Bulldog in Kelee Ringo. He'll probably play in the slot and on special teams until he's ready to replace Slay or Bradberry.

We also traded for RB Swift from Detroit. This is shaping up to be an amazing draft for Howie.
