Re: Tank Watch 2025
Flagg seems like a perfect fit for Utah for obvious reasons. I don't think market size really matters in the modern day NBA like it used to. SGA is one of the biggest stars in the league and he plays in Oklahoma

Raps tooks out Barnes and Poetl with it being a 4 point game with like 8 mins left in the 4th. Took RJ Barrett out with it a 5 point game with 5 mins left.
They know what they're doing. Bench almost won it tho.

Re: Tank Watch 2025
There is no team in NBA history less deserving of getting lucky in the lottery than the Sixers. They only suck because of utter incompetence. It's not like this is some rebuild where they're sucking on purpose. From the front office to the medical staff to ownership. And even with all that, they were handed a reason to tank on a silver platter and waited until March to do it when everyone else started in like December and January. And I guarantee you Maxey and PG have not played their last games of the season. Just when you think they've shut them down for the season, in a week they'll be back to playing games again, baffling everyone. Taking your Sixers fandom out of it and just looking at it impartially, the Sixers losing their pick to OKC is the most poetic justice scenario of all-time.
They would have tried to tank sooner if they weren't so in denial about their season because they spent all that money in the summer and refused to acknowledge that everything they did failed.

We’ve consistently been one of the most talented teams in the league since the 2018-2019 season. I’m not sure if any other franchise has added as much talent as we have. In terms of pure talent, analysts have often put us on the same level as OKC this season. Even during the 2019-2020 season—which many fans look back on negatively—we were, at one point, favored by both analysts and analytics. And in the 2023 playoffs, we were actually the favorites to win it all when we held a 3-2 lead against the Celtics.
We may not have played our cards perfectly, but we always went all-in with a strong hand at almost every draw.
I don’t agree that this franchise’s is incompetent, and I don’t believe luck plays favorites either.
We choose to build around Embiid. And that comes to having to deal with his good and bad sides.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

That's a really bad take considering how awful Cleveland was and still needed "luck" to land Lebron.

Re: Tank Watch 2025
keeping it real in terms of "deserving" it; I would choose Brookyln. They got hosed by two all in trades for a decade lol.
BUT on some tin foil hat **** (i.e don't take this so seriously lol), I think the fact that even w/ stars and the Knicks being ****, they will always play second fiddle so why "waste" an alleged next up guy there yknow?
Lets play the "league totally rigs the lottery and here is why game" lol.
The Hawks won it because the draft was terrible so they gave it to the team most stuck in the mid zone. Spurs getting the next great foreign guy was just a match made in heaven. Orlando is similar to the Hawks as remember Jabari Smith was SUPPOSED to go number 1, they just somehow dodged that and took the only all star so far but Paolo will keep them solid for years...which is what they have been my whole life...solid. Detroit is a big franchise and they thought Cade could take them out of their doldrums...it took a bit. The Wolves were selling the team so a new young star was needed (this is also similar to the Hawks...when the top of the draft is shaky, they give it to one of the mid franchises). Zion to the Pels was a bad choice but the heat was too high to send him to the Knicks but they also just lost AD...this is a sneaky thing to look out for...when teams lose a star, then are ass, they suddenly get the top pick a lot. Ayton was a local kid. Boston won and the league was trying to set up a Fultz v Ball rivalry but Ainge had other ideas and smelled a easy lick in us sadly. Simmons was our treat for sacking Hinkie.
basically open your 5th eyes yall. So taking my deep and well researched logic here is how this year will go. Flagg is a generational guy apparently. So we actually have a leg up in a lot of ways. New stadium. Can get him on the big stage asap. Potentially losing a star albeit to injury. If we sack Morey, they could reward us as I don't think the league ever forgave him for the China stuff..especially if wonder boy Bob Myers comes in. It is all coming up milhouse yo. HOWEVA...Dallas checks a lot of the totally not made up boxes too and as FireMorey said...we do also deserve the bad outcome if only because our misery is also something the league loves. Chicago and Washington are also markets they'd love to revitalize.
so yeah if it is rigged its Us, Dallas, Chicago or Washington. If its anyone else....uh...uhhh look over there
<runs away.

Re: Tank Watch 2025
Back in the process days I would obsessively scoreboard watch and root for bad teams to win and all that. This year I've done none of that. If I'm being honestly, I really don't care about the lottery this time around. I mean obviously I'd take the Sixers winning it, but back in the process days it was imperative because they were building toward something. Right now I couldn't be more out on this Sixers organization and team right now and they're probably f'd anyway even if they did win the lottery and get Flagg, they are not winning anything any time soon. And the Embiid situation is going to be the dark cloud that hangs over their heads for years. It will dominate the conversation and weigh everything else down with morbidity because he'll be out there trying to play and be limping around and all the chatter from the fans and the coach every night will be "Will he or won't he?" It's going to be a tiresome ride until he retires unfortunately.
Not even going to watch lottery night. For one, lottery night is kinda gross now, they made it into this big production broadcast now, different from years back, and have tried to market sucking... while at the same time the NBA cracked down on the Sixers for tanking, but they promote lottery night like it's a Mr. Beast gameshow. Commercials, music, analysts on the set. My god, what a bunch of money grubbing hypocrites the NBA is. If they lose the pick to OKC I won't bat an eye. Yeah, it's another lottery scenario but such a far cry from the process days for sure.

It's the same as everything else the NBA does. The NBA all-star game was the best in all the pro sports in the '80's and early '90's, then the players lost interest and stopped competing, preferring to just hang and party, so the powers that be are doing handstands trying to fabricate something every year and have turned the weekend into a clown show that the players are still not interested in.
The ridiculous Lebron Cup "in season tournament" - colored floors and throwing more money at multi-millionaires are somehow
supposed to get fans to embrace something that is, at the end of the day, meaningless to both players (except for the money) and fans. I'm sure Silver will come up with more bells and whistles next season (perhaps making the hoops ablaze in flames?).
If not for gambling and corporate interest, I believe the NBA would be in dire straits right now.

Getting Luka to LA has certainly helped their TV ratings and the casual interest judging by ESPN.
But "sports entertainment" products can only go so far.

If the game itself doesn't sustain interest, all the manipulation and gimmicks in the world will be temporary band aids at best.
The legalization of gambling has done more to secure the future of pro and big time college sports than any policy changes the leagues could ever come up with.

They need to sit Grimes in the 2nd half. Keep him in the locker room.

We don’t need a guy chasing a contract while we have two of the worst contracts in the game and limited young talent. Even if we want to re-sign him, he is going to price himself out of our range while he costs us a draft pick.

Re: Tank Watch 2025
Well, this game is over.
They have WSH twice more, as well.
Losing their pick will be devastating to the asset base, considering it's already low.
And what; we're gonna go through three more years of is Embiid going to play? Is he not gonna play?
Harris, just move the franchise to Seattle. You guys are the worst.
