I think he was just not used to real basketball at the start of the season, there was just too much time in between actual competitive games. He looks a lot more fluid and comfortable out there right now.
I always thought the the fumbling of passes was due to his rushing and lack of poise. He has settled down and is much more comfortable with the speed of the game.
The only thing that is still a bit of a concern is that we don't know how much of his comfort is due to playing his natural position of center.
Next year he will be forced to try to guard power forwards again away from the basket and he will likely struggle again. I expect him to eventually be able to do it, but he may regress next year a bit.
