We have a star.

The Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday told Simmons that he would be the No. 1 overall draft pick, according to multiple reports. The premium cabler has been quietly chronicling Simmons for the past two years. And the documentary will heavily focus on Simmons time at Louisiana State University, where he played his one and done year in order to satisfy a rule regulating eligibility for the NBA Draft. But the film also will include his childhood in Australia, high school in America and the influence of his family, especially father David Simmons, a New York City native who played 13 professional seasons in the Australian National Basketball League.

The film, said Showtime Sports chief Stephen Espinoza, "chronicles a unique and pivotal period in a young man’s life. Over the last year, as Ben Simmons has transitioned from teenager to young adult, he has also transitioned from the relative anonymity of a supremely talented high school player to the national and international limelight of the exclusive fraternity of top NBA draft picks. Ben Simmons is navigating a path that, although dreamt of and aspired to for a lifetime, remains uncertain."

The film also will explore the NBA's still controversial one and done rule, which was instituted in 2006 and requires high school players to be one year removed from graduation in order to be eligible for the draft.

He's getting on a regimen that won't hinder his movements on the court.

So do we trade both Noel and Okafor so we can play Simmons at the 4 and get shooters in return?

We debate who we would prefer to trade between them, but nobody thinks we should trade both.

It may be necessary eventually, but for now we still have to hedge our Embiid bet:

Definitely agree that we , need to hedge. I personally think we attempt to play all 3 in the starting line up at first then evaluate which line up is the most effective. I do think however that if Embiid returns as the guy he was supposed to be, we will end up trading both sooner rather than later.

It's hilarious how dedicated the Lakers are to Ingram, as is they wouldn't have wanted Simmons if they got the first pick. It's borderline delusional.

On the Lakers site on here and on another major Laker site, Ingram was winning on both polls taken. I seen more Lakers fans upset about not getting Ingram than those upset about not getting Simmons.

Whats funny is your reaction at the Lakers fans being happy about Ingram. If you are so secure in Simmons being legit, you woudlnt care about what Lakers fans think about Ingram. Its like Sixers fans telling Lakers fans how they should feel about dAngelo Russell saying Russell sucks so they should fix their mistake and trade DAngelo to the Sixers for Okafor lol.

It doesn't matter - really - but a poll prior to the lottery would have been more telling.

EDIT: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1435917#start_here (Simmons 49%, Ingram 47%, other 4%) compared to viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1445635&start=980 (Simmons 26%, Ingram 58%, other 16%)

If the Lakers had the top pick most of their fans would want Simmons. Trust me. They only want Ingram because Simmons will be gone. Ingram is good and will be a good player but I would much rather have Simmons. But make no mistake. Lakers would have takem Simmons if they had the top pick just like every other team would have done.

Pal,

This is the Sixers board, dingus. If I wanted to stir up drama, I'd go to your adorable little board.

Cheers,

Go to most youtube videos. Lakers fans were begging the Sixers to choose Simmons after the draft lottery. Simmons doesnt fit the Warrior style offense Luke Walton will be running. I mean would you want to draft an NFL quarterback who played in the option if you are running the no huddle type offense that your ex Philly Eagles coach is running.

Yea, a triple double threat, point forward would never fit in a "warrior" offense....(Draymond Green chuckles)

Ridiculous statement. Yeah Simmons doesn't fit the offense when he plays similar to Draymond Green and LeBron James. Do you watch basketball? Simmons fits in any offense though. And I have seen many Lakers fans clamoring for Simmons after the Sixers got the top pick. Most Lakers fans are resigned to the fact they aren't getting SImmons and accept Ingram.

Are we really going back and forth on this?

We would all be sold in Ingram if we had gotten 2nd pick too...its normal to do so.

Not really. When we were debating Dlo, Okafor, Porz, etc., it's not like we were saying they were better than Towns.

I'd say that's correct. Pre draft lottery about 50/50, and of the 49% that were Simmons probably 25% have mostly been reading stuff on Ingram and falling in love with him knowing it was more than likely our pick. The overreaction from our peeps based on the assertion that we convinced ourselves he was the best player, though, is understandable considering almost 50% of us did really feel that was our guy and even more so when you consider that we need a 3 like nobodies business and we need shooters like crazy, too.

Hopefully what happens this year, though, is that both players thrive and this year is a promising one for both Franchises. Small market love be damned, the league is better when Philly, NY, LA, Boston, and Chicago are competitive.
