I'd 100% rather have Draymond than CJ.

We're not talking about Damian Lillard and Steph Curry here.

Beal and CJ are guys whose offensive impact isn't enough to warrant their lapses on defense. Especially in exchange for a player like Simmons.

I'm pretty sure Keith Smith is a fake insider. Not sure why an ESPN affiliate is legitimizing him (unless he's come into some legit contacts in the past year).

I'm curious if he gets a 4-year or 5-year max from us. Jimmy said he hopes to be done with basketball by 35. Both deals technically qualify to finish by then.

Infact, Smith clarified

Jimmy Butler is coming back, it's a virtual lock. I posted this in my tidbits thread. He and Harris will both be back.

Butler will be back, it’s practically a done deal already, I have that on very good authority.

You also mention that we've had eyes on Kawhi for some time now and are going to at least place a call to his team. If by some miracle the interest is reciprocated is Butler or Harris the odd man out?

Also, in hindsight, do you have anything you can share on how hard we pushed for Kawhi by trade last offseason?

They’re interested in Kawhi just like everyone else is, but I really wouldn’t expect anything to come of it. I think they’d only maneuver to make it happen if they get intel he’d definitely sign here.

Don’t think they pushed that hard for it in the summer. Too much of a risk to lose assets after one year of service.

What you mean like Jimmy and Tobias? Imagine if Kawhi stays and we lose 1 or both of Jimmy/Tobi, wouldn't we look stupid.

He meant we didnt give in to spurs demand because kawhi may just be a 1 year rental. At that time rumor is theyre asking ben or biid

Maybe he’s thanking the fans and teammates for his new contract with us

^^ That quote about play style is strategic from Tobias' camp. They are just angling to cut off any arguments about Tobias taking a discount as the 3rd option.

A 5-188 contract for this guy is an absolute unmitigated disaster... unless you're banking on being able to flip him in summer 2020 because of the poor FA pool. But that's SUCH a massive gamble. Would require either balls of titanium or complete disregard for one's own job.

Is overpaying a disaster if it gets you a championship?

A lot will come down to whether or not ownership is willing to fit the large tax bill that comes along with filling out the roster while paying 4 max deals. They're likely to be capped out regardless.

Either ownership is willing to pay massive luxury taxes or not. Brand will know that answer before handing out max contracts. An owner with 3billion can afford to lose 100 million per year for 3 years if he really wants to win.

If you have a talented scorer that fits and has an ideal skillset, there's nothing wrong with overpaying him.

Khris Middleton will be overpaid in Milwaukee, too. I'm not sweating overpaying for Tobias.
