Kawhi, was either injured for a whole year or had such a bad attitude that he didn't play for a whole year. I honestly don't know which is worse, but it was a big risk either way. On top of that, we only would have had him for a guaranteed one year. Trading away Ben with his potential would have been a huge risk. It wasn't a good idea at the time, and it only looks like it now because we know how Kawhi ended up.

Ben doesnt want to defer in his role and change his game. That means he wants the ball in his hands. Not on jimmy’s. He wants to play with spot up shooters like dario and roco type players.

Even if he can shoot. He wouldnt want to give up the ball. You think he would? I dont think so.

He’s DNA is a facilitator. Not a scorer.

It doesn't matter if his DNA is a facilitator or a scorer.

It does matter that in his DNA he is not a winner.

bottom line

Both Embiid and Ben have to improve their games...in particular shooting.

Can't have your best players get the "go ahead shoot it" treatment.

For Ben its obvious but Joel, it will allow him to get some rest on offense by not having to bang as much and ideally will allow him to lose some of the weight in the process. Again Shaq should not be his role model...Tim Duncan should be.

But if this team ever wants to win it all, then those two will need to improve. Kiddy Gloves are off next year. It will be Ben's 3rd and Joel's 4th...with two playoff runs in their pocket. Put up or shut up

I love watching him play.

But why would you max him out when you are mad about Ben sucking in the playoffs...after the playoffs Kyrie has had?

also don't think thats possible

Because he's also been incredible in the finals?

I'm not quite sure Kyrie's teammates like him and I also think Kyrie doesn't like his teammates. It's not a good locker room and that can poor out on the floor.

IDGAF what he wants, just learn to shoot, just because you are a genetic freak doesn't mean what you want should matter, get your ass in the gym and work on that jumpshot. His DNA is a facilitator of choking.

Ben and Embiid both are coddled way too much. Embiid I would never trade and Ben not yet but stop making excuses for them. Ben might have actually regressed this year he had a lower RPM then his rookie season. I just wish I didnt get the feeling from these two that they think everything is fine and dandy as it is. I dont get that they are all that frustrated and think they need to improve a lot still. I hope i'm wrong. We have to stop acting like we have a million years with Embiid his body is a ticking time bomb I feel like its a five year window. Simmons has to improve his shooting or he should be gone he doenst fit well with Embiid right now the only way he can be effective is pushing all the time and you cant do that in the play-offs either.

Portland aren’t trading Dame & he’s hardly a playoff star anyway

The way they use Joel is all wrong. If they need spacing they should sign more shooters. He is beyond the three point line way too often. I dont even care if they post him up more but he just needs to be in the painted area more. Look at Giannis the Bucks surrounded him with shooters and he just goes down the lane against everyone time and time again. Right now Ben and Jojo dont work together against elite defenses. It does not work. We have ten games proof of it versus the Celtics and Raptors. We have five guys that average 20 points a game aggregate and we struggle to break 95 point in these playoff games. Ben is a gigantic problem in the playoffs as he is currently.

Not if you're capped anyway and the ownership will pay the bill. If you are not a contender and you give a max contract to a non-max player, you're capped and you can't get a true max player. That's the situation that is normal throughout the league. True max players - probably no more than 20 or so. Others will get max money and force their teams into mediocrity. But if you already have a true max player (or 2... or 3), then you aren't going to get another one in free agency. What you can do is draft well, sign the occasional ring hunter to a minimum contract, use the MLE to get the best you can, and pay what is necessary to keep the best talent you have on your roster. This is the last year where we can choose whether to be capped or not... when we have to pay Ben we won't have a choice anymore. I laid out the 3 options above. We can go below the cap by renouncing everyone and maybe strike out chasing another max player. We either (a) "win" and get a max player+terrible bench or (b) we miss out and have just Ben+Joel+a decent bench. Or (c) the owners spend the big bucks and we are a capped team for the next 5 years but we legitimately compete for a championship for at least 3 of them.

I think this is the part many take issue with. This team is not that close to true contention right now.

Of course we are

This series isn’t a true reflection when you consider that Embiid has largely been a passenger bar one game

How many times in his entire career has he been kept to less than 10 shots in a game when playing reasonable minutes?

The guy has had 3 in this series alone as he’s struggling to get around

Embiid was bad last year against the Celtics too though on offense. Better then this year but not by much. He has a really hard time against good defensive centers that wont just stupidly foul him and let him kill himself with bad jumpshots and turnovers. They way they use him is just flat out (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Too much behind the 3 point line. If you want spacing bring in more shooters.

Embiid has failed in consecutive second round series. Horford last year and Gasol this year have owned in.

Everyone else is irrelevant. If he doesnt play well 6ers can't get the efc.
